I have YouTube premium to get rid of ads, so now find more videos have "sponsored by" segments in the middle of them. If a video has this, it gets downvoted and the segment reported for spam. I get content creators need to make money, but don't piss off your audience
@Albatraous, I dont mind if its at the beginning or in the end. If its in the middle, it breaks the concentration of the viewer and almost guarantees they dont sign up for whatever.
@GMOD RULEZ, normally I don't like it but a few of the people I watch incorporate it into a skit in their videos so it's actually pretty funny too. That way they can get the ad across but also make it entertaining.
@GMOD RULEZ, most of the ones I see are in the beginning and they’re timed so you just press the L key and that’ll skip right past it. The justification for in video ads are that people use Adblock so these sponsored segments are a way to still get paid.
@Albatraous, youtube gives next to none of there ad revenue and premium revenue to content creators, so sponsored actually gives them money to do what they do.
@Albatraous, You still get ads with premium?!? That's some next level messed up, right there.
@TheKen42, no ads, but the sponsor part of videos arent skipped
@Albatraous, Ok, that makes a bit more sense
@Albatraous, so I like a specific music artist but they died a few years ago, so I looked up a YouTube video with a big compilation of a ton of their songs by some random guy who also liked the music. I am conflicted in that I love the video for having all the songs together in one place, however the guy also monetized the video(of the dead artists music) and it has like 12-15 ads throughout.
@Albatraous, see, your first problem was buying YouTube premium when you could have just gotten adblock
@Albatraous, I understand its frustrating to you as you have paid for premium and thus expect no ads, but content creators need to do the sponsored by segments and brand deals to get by on youtube because of high and inaccurate demonetization hits. They need reliable sources of income. I urge you to consider their perspective as well and how they are affected by the youtube algorithm. At the very least, those “sponsored by” segments, are entirely skippable. Have a nice day.
@airguitarpro, I did consider them when I bought youtube premium, as I thought they would still get a cut of the premium money without the user getting ads. I could have just got an ad block, but thought I'd do it the legit way. I understand when they would get sponsored, but when it is not related to the video and just obnoxious, it reduces the quality of the viewing experience. Many of these channels have posted before without sponsorship, so most of the time it just feels forced.
@Albatraous, If you truly considered the content creator, you’d support them in ways that directly affect them, such as patreon if they have one or watching their sponsors. You’re relying on a broken system, Youtube, to dish out fair and consistent wages to youtubers. I don’t think a single person in the world would throw up an ad in the middle of their creations unless its needed to support them. You’re clearly overestimating the safety and longevity of the average content creator on the youtube platform. Think about the “cut of premium money” getting divided millions of times over, as there are sadly exponentially more content creators and videos than there are youtube premium members. Its cause youtube premium isn’t inherently worth the hassle and the revenue doesn’t really go to the creators as much as you would ideally believe.
@airguitarpro, I do support some in patron, but I can't pay £10 a month for each channel I enjoy. Some of them I have bought their merch. I get downvoted for buying premium, when others who use ad block are praised?
@Albatraous, I downvoted you because you came across as very dismissive to youtube content creators who provide you with endless hours of free content. I don’t see anyone praising others here who use adblock, so I honestly don’t know where the heck you’re coming from. Lets not twist what you and others have stated to fit your narrative, friendo.
@airguitarpro, you have been twisting your own narrative, thinking I dont support them. Do you pay for premium, patron and subscribe financially to every YouTube channel? Look at the other comments about ad blockers and people are up voting them.
At the end of the day, YouTube is the platform. If this didn't exist, content creators would have to go elsewhere like vimeo or even mainstream media. Your argument saying I should consider what they get financially would be like having a go for some for using spotify or buying a DVD. The money goes to the publishers, the service, the distributors and the artist. Should I instead send the money directly to each band member, so the record label, who give them a platform and the advertising to be found , get less money?
I think all content creators should get paid, just like a service should be paid too. Just because they are a big company doesnt mean they shouldn't be paid.
@Albatraous, You deflect a lot and it really doesn’t help your case to take your argument seriously. There are currently two comments which support adblock and one has an enormous support of one upvote and one downvote, while the other has a record breaking 0 upvotes and 1 downvote, so lets not play the victim card.
I don’t use premium but I don’t use adblock and I usually let ads play (as long as they are less than 15 seconds). If there are sponsored parts, I watch them as sponsors keep track of watch retention during their sponsor segments. I have personally donated to content creators before via patreon and merch. Granted, I can’t support everyone, but I’m certainly not disliking or reporting videos or harming their channels in any way due to them having sponsors. I’m purely net positive to content creators. Also, to compare youtube to something like a record label is ridiculous. The whole upside to youtube is that how it runs as a business is shockingly unique.
Adblock: no ads
Get an Adblock you idiot
Now you have to multiply each by two now
I actually despise mobile game ads, most lie about the game. For example I saw an ad for an app that changes your voice to kind like a celebrity. The footage they used was Ariana grande saying “hi I’m Ariana grande” and Justin beiber saying the same. It was obviously not from the app and was taken from somewhere else
Is this some kind of peasant joke that I'm too modded youtube apk to understand?
The other day I saw an add for a mobile game but the footage it showed was literally the last God of war game footage
The fact that it’s GoT slots doesn’t make mobile phone slots any more entertaining. Stop it!
