So random question; does anyone know the weight of downvotes? Because I've seen comments with like 30 likes and 1 downvote who aren't top comment and the two top comments will be like 13 upvotes. Or is it all based on percentages not quantity?
@Juggernaut315, while I’m still unsure of the weight of 1 downvote. I’ve sort of figured out the math over the years that every downvote after 1 effectively divides the upvotes. So someone with 24 upvotes and 2 downvotes has effectively 12 upvotes. 3 downvotes and the effective value of the comment is 8 upvotes, 4 down equals 6 up, etc.
@Juggernaut315, it’s a little too high in my opinion
@Sven and Otar, hmmm very interesting that would definitely add up, thanks! @DwayneTheCockJohnson oh yeah definitely way too high
@Sven and Otar, unfortunately it translates to downvote trolls having too much power.
@ThePandaPool , true, I think it’s original intent was to discourage more classical forms of trolling and to bury trolling comments easier. The trolls have just found a way to get around that apparently
@Juggernaut315, only thing I’m sure of is that downvotes are heavier than feathers.
@ThePandaPool , ya, it really should be even so the upvote and downvote trolls have the same power.
@Sven and Otar, a bit off. 1 down doesn’t divide by 1
@Child Slapper, if you read my comment I explicitly say, “I’m still unsure of the weight of 1 downvote” my math is still spot on for all downvotes after 1.
@Sven and Otar, oh cool
