Can anyone tell me the scientific reason this happens? I like science
@batdogsowner, I don’t think anyone knows for sure. The brain and especially and it’s unconscious workings, are far from being understood. However, if I am wrong, I would also like to know the reasons.
@batdogsowner, I know your frontal lobe is mostly non-functional during sleep which is why dreams tend not to make sense. I believe the long term memory center is impaired as well.
@batdogsowner, pretty sure it's just because the brain decides that dream is information not worth keeping so it trashes it right away. I however retain about 70% of my dreams. Sometimes great, most times awful.
@batdogsowner, to take a guess I’d assume that because it’s mostly information from you’re subconscious strung together in a way for your mind to make sense of it, on top of the fact that the information seems to be stored in a low priority center of your short term memory, so unless you actively try to remember and access the long term memory area in your mind ( sorry don’t know the technical terms) you’ll likely forget shortly after waking. Just one of many guesses lol
@batdogsowner, leading theory for dreams: your brain runs through the events of the day to store memories away into its diff filing cabinets (long short etc). This activity causes neurons to fire, it's this firing that your brain creates dreams from as its trying to make sense of the neurons firing. Hence why dreams may feature thoughts and feelings that are on your mind. I personally however struggle to forget them, they get stored with memories somehow. But some people don't remember them at all. Everyone dreams though, and new research has shown ptsd meds effective for nightmares....
@Xenn, fun fact remembering most of your dreams in detail is a sign you're not sleeping well and are more likely to die of a stroke or heart attack. This is because to remember a dream you need to wake up before the REM cycle is complete, and therefore you don't get as good a quality of sleep.
I hope you're okay.
(No I'm not fun at parties)
I also smell my own finger
Anyone have a dream with a crazy twist and be like i would never think of that awake. No? Just me? Cool
I once had a dream that was like a movie...it started out with two young boys that played baseball together, and stuck together as best friends all throughout school, promising each other that they will make it to the pros...they always had each other's back, fought the same fights, even if it meant getting their asses handed to them...then when it came to high school graduation, one of them got a scholarship for baseball, and one didn't...the one that didn't, his family wasn't very well off, but put up a mortgage for their house so that they could send him to the same school, in hopes that he would make it on the team as well...as the years at school went on, the one who got the scholarship, the wealthy kid, became the star of the team, getting all of his schooling for free, and the one who didnt ended up giving up on his dream to play baseball, and start selling drugs to the other students at the university to make extra money and provide for his family. The two stayed friends
@I am the potato, throughout the one kid's hardships, and the wealthy kid kept trying to help, trying to make things right...the now drug dealer declined all offers, saying that he deserved it...but since scouting for the major league has begun for the baseball player, they made a vow that if he ever made it pro, he will give his best friend any money he needs...so the kid makes it pro and goes off to spring training, and lost contact with his friend so that he could get ready for his first season... hit while he was away, his friend, the drug dealer, became involved with some heavy stuff, owing money to the wrong crowd...but since he could pay up, they decided to retaliate...they beat him up, tied him to a chair, and they decided to finish the job 'since his friend cant help him' by killing him with a baseball bat. So the baseball player is starting his first opening game, kept an open ticket for his friend, front row, right next to the batter's circle, so that they could talk before
@I am the potato, each at bat...but to the baseball players surprise, kind of distraught, his friend didnt show up to his first game. He is now filled with anger, and decided to use his anger for his at bat...visibly angry, he walks up to the plate...cut back to the friend, who is tied to a chair and bleeding...he is being beaten over and over by a baseball bat, legs broken, ribs broken, arms broken, just absolute painful situation...the guy in the chair is begging for them to "not hurt his family, anything but his family" so the people beating him say "oh really, then I guess your friend isn't your family" and before he could say anything, they take a full swing with the bat straight to his temple...the scene happens in slow motion, and right before the bat hits his head, flash cut to the baseball player hitting a homerun on his first swing, on his first pitch...almost as if the force and the anger that he put into that ball has been transferred to his friends head.
@I am the potato, the baseball player finishes the best game he has ever played, in his lifetime gaining a bunch of fans, all unaware that his friend has been killed...unaware that the mob has started going after him...
This was legitimately one of my dreams, and I am currently working on a way to put it into a pitch to try to make it into a movie...I know nothing about movies, but I am writing the pitch, and a rudimentary script about it...what do you guys think about it? What should happen to the player? I woke up after he hit the baseball, so idk what to put after that
Well I can barely remember my dream from last night! I was fighting the president of the United States! (Acutally it was some one running for president) And I raided a movie theater! It was awesome!
When I wake up I remember every dream I had that night, sometimes it takes a little to remember some but I always do
Or you remember it fully, but you realize it made no sense after you're fully awake
