Apparently now Disney is waiting for Sony to be bought out, since apparently Apple and Amazon are interested in purchasing it to further their streaming services. If that were to happen, marvel gets Spider-Man rights back free of charge. This feels like a damn soap opera at this point
@LorienNine, I dont care how they settle it, just fvcking give me my Spidey!
@Mantis Tobaggan, oh no I’m agreed. I just find that development hilarious
@LorienNine, it's business between two big companies with loads of assets, of course its a soap opera
@Dick Gravatar, well with the addition of those other companies it’s like some love triangle expanded. Makes me chuckle
@LorienNine, What happens to Spiderverse?
@Berntley, I think marvel and Disney would get the rights, though idk what that would entail
People tend to forget, if Sony hadn't bought Spider-Man, and Fox hadn't bought X-Men/Fantastic Four, then Marvel Comics would have gone under LONG before they had a chance to create the MCU.
@Suicide Squad Sucks, and as much as people disparage those movies now, they paved the way for modern superhero movies. Found what worked and what didn’t. Set the stage for how a super team might look on the big screen. X- men most of all I’d argue.
Unfortunately, once the recipe had been discovered.... x-men didn’t really adapt to it but kinda stayed what they were. It’s a shame but I’ll still thank them for paveing the way and letting me first see on screen what many of my favorite characters could look like, powers and all.
