Am I the only one who sees this for what it is?
@CUNTSOAP, A very lazy appeal to emotion argument that is only turning a very serious and immediate problem into another internet fad that will be forgotten by next week?
No, I see it too.
@CUNTSOAP, she obviously is coached on how to do a speech. However, climate change is a real issue. Every government knows this, even the usa. The usa just doesnt admit it publicly since we have many ignorant people that believe all the miss-information.
@Weird Porn Stash, i would easily argue that climate change is no longer an argument, its as factual as gravity.
@Implicit88, Anyone who wants to talk about climate change should read about the claims of both sides. You might come away with your own opinions on the matter.
@Implicit88, it’s not ignorant people as much as it’s lobbying dollars from fossil fuel industries...
@A Blunt Object, regardless of the lobbying people believe outlandish claims and some just aren’t capable without a lot of 1on1 time. I recently had to explain to a friend the difference between climate and weather.... even afterwards he still wasnt believing. Then you have a subset of people that just dont care because they will be dead by then.
@Implicit88, true, but the reason the government is resistant is due to the money...
@A Blunt Object, money isnt the issue. We have money for endless wars for the military industrial complex. Plus factor in the cost of inaction, the cost of action is nothing compared to that. Its like saying hey my house has black mold and it costs $1000 but thats too expensive so i will just wait. 10 years later you now have it spread throughout your house and it will cost $10000 to get rid of it. We are simply borrowing from the future, but as with all loans the balance with interest eventually becomes due.
@Implicit88, I think you misunderstand my contention. It’s industry money going to political campaigns that keeps certain politicians from admitting the truth about this...
@A Blunt Object, yes, you are correct. Oil runs the world. Luckily it looks like china of all countries is attempting to change this by being the biggest investor in renewable energy, surpassing the usa.
@Implicit88, unfortunately it’s ranked pretty low when compared to other environmental problems. Things like ocean acidification or loss of environment are a bigger problem. In the words of my climate change professor. Is it still an issue we should work on? Sure but even major strides like the Paris climate treaty would have had about a .5 C effect over the next 50 years. I’ll look that up again to make sure that’s accurate
@Implicit88, like almost every week its like russian roulette. Theres always a new tropical deprresion or storm that turns to hurricane.
@Implicit88, yes but i disagree with the alarmism. For over 50 years climitologists have been saying the worlds going to end. If they had been right the ozone would be gone, the polar ice caps would have melted, and the polar bears, and penguinz would all be dead now but that hasnt happend. Yet they expect me to believe " we have 12 years before the planets going to be destroyed unless we go carbon nuetral.no word on how were gonna plow our fields, or transport goods goods point A to point B. But were evil if we dont capitulate for some reason.
@A Blunt Object, or maybe the people and the government are resistent because the "solutions" put foward by climate activists would cripple the economy and cause fammines, and possibly even a dust bowl in certain arguments.
@BlazingBowman, Just an FYI the ozone layer is not depleted because most developed nations banned CFC’s (the US did it in ‘96) and other ozone depleting chemicals. Can’t recall if it crippled the economy or caused a famine, but it’s weird how “alarmist” solutions can repair damage...
@A Blunt Object,
@A Blunt Object, solutions like banning air plane travel, banning eating meat, and banning all fossil fuels? And that polar ice caps still looking mighty frozen wasnt that supposed to be gone by now.
@Implicit88, I didn’t say it was an argument. I said that this girl being the face of it all is counter productive to the cause.
@A Blunt Object, just saying unsubstantiated things like "the worlds going to end i 12 years" isnt really helpful or believable when you got advocates who burn through c02 in on whims like russel crow flying his private jet 10000 miles two ways to get a fvcking hat right after lecturing us dirty peasants about how evil we are for using a car to drive to work, and get groceries.
@BlazingBowman, polar ice caps are melting, which is why polar bears are being found further south than at any point in human history due to lack of pack ice...
You seem to have the standard panicking denier talking points down, but small changes can also have big impact as it did with the ozone layer. You can stick your head in the sand and pretend it’s not happening all you want, but change is needed and will happen. It always does.
Progress works like that, and what may seem impossible today will be commonplace tomorrow...
@A Blunt Object, your missing the point. You people have been crying doomsday for litterally decades now. All life on earth should be gone by now based on previous exaggerations from climate activists.
And then you have the gall the unbelievable arragonce to sit there and wonder why people are skeptical of your next doomsday prediction.
Instead of saying hey this is eventrually gonna get bad for all of us. So lets start moving toward better solutions for the environment. Lets start giving kick back to companies that start going carbon nuetral, lets meet the conservatives halfway somewhere so we can start making some progress, lets start working on a battery thats effecient enough that it can atleast compete with gas engines in some ways. No you assholes have to be condecening cvnts. If we dont agree with every ludicrous idea you vomit out of your mouths we have to be evil. Which is why people dont like greta shes a cvnt.
@BlazingBowman, name calling is the first sign of a weak argument...
I’ll leave the doomsday prognostications for others, but changes are needed. Some small, some larger.
Speaking of doomsday prognostication, does economic collapse, famines, and dust bowls count? You’re real quick to paint one side as being extreme without looking at your own statements...
@A Blunt Object, those would definitely be a direct result of going carbon neutral without proper planning. Or did you not consider that we require fuel to plow and harvest millions of acres of produce, or that it takes boats, trains, trucks and planes to ship produce and other goods not only around the country but around the world.
As for the dust bowl i did specify if we listend to the ideas of some radicals. I was specifically referring to vegans wanting to feed the world by using all the "unused" farmingland. Who dont understand that that farming land is unused for a reason.
@BlazingBowman, you actually didn’t specify anything other than “climate change activists”, and you act like we’d just go carbon neutral tomorrow.
Do you think the people in 1949 thought that going to the moon was possible? 20 years later it happened. Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not on it’s way...
@A Blunt Object, "and possibly even a dust bowl in certain arguments" couldnt have made it clearer. But in the green new deal proposed by cortez we would have had to give up planes and boats, and even cut down on car farts while making a trans atlantic train for transportation. If thats even possible. We have 12 years according to cortez and ms.greta thunberg uptop. Do you honestly think within 12 years we can rework our entire economy make a electric battery thats powerful enough to plow, and harvest thousands of acres of field in even a remotely effecient way replace all the cars, trucks and other vehicles with this new model of electric car? Let alone all the boats trains, and industry? Straight face here do you think thats even remotely possible?
@A Blunt Object, and thats not even consideringnthe millions of buildings that rely on gasoline still to heat them.
@BlazingBowman, no offense, but did you even read the “Green New Deal”? It mentions none of that, it’s much more a vision statement with no actual specific policies or time tables. Or did you listen to some supposed expert, and take their word for what was in it?
And yes in 12 years it seems like a tall task, but not so different from going from flying propeller aircraft to landing on the moon and returning safely...
@Weird Porn Stash, hey... whatever it takes at this point. We’ve tried using world renowned scientists to logically explain these things to people, and they’ve received nothing but deaf ears and accusations.
@A Blunt Object, you are arguing with a person who has no interest in the truth in your words... Arguments from ignorance are all they have presented and they likely don't want their opinions challenged.
@Microsoft, your point is well taken, however unchallenged ignorance allows it to spread. It’s less about persuading my friend’s opinion than not allowing that opinion to go out uncontested...
@Douche Amore, But this won’t work. That’s what I said. It’s just virtue signaling that has turned the issue into an internet fad that people will go back to ignoring by Monday.
@A Blunt Object, so you litterally believe that we can restructure the entirety of our society, economy and industry in less than 12 years on the whim of a doomsday prediction. And replace all of it on a technology that isnt capable of completing these tasks yet... wow. Just im just at a loss for words. How many lives youre willing to bet on a technology that doesnt exist yet and may never exist is very scary to me. And the fact that even now you cant see why the other side might not buy into youre beliefes is very saddening.
And yes that was in the green new deal did you read it?
@BlazingBowman, can you cite specifically where it says anything you’ve mentioned, or the timeline of 12 years? Here’s the link to help you out.
You keep claiming to understand what I believe, and you really don’t. I’ve stated fairly consistently that we need to make changes to work towards carbon neutrality.
The fact that small changes down that path is “scary to you” tells me that you’re resistant to any and all change. I’m willing to invest in technology that may help, and continue to work toward neutrality. That’s my belief. Sorry if that’s frightening...
@A Blunt Object, im not resistant to any change at all ive said that repeatedly. What i have said is that the timeline posted by greta thunberg who youve defended, and ms alexandrias cortez new green deal is fvcking ridiculous and dangerous. It cant be done in the timeline theyve set not even close.
Greta thunberhs speach 2:20 into the video
"The popular idea of cutting oir emissions in half in 10 years only gives us a 50% chance staying below 1.5% and setting off an irreversible chain reactions beyond human control. 50% may be acceptable to you but those numbers do not include tipping points most feedback loops, aditional warming hidden by toxic air pollution or aspects of equity or climate justice" litterally 50% in 10 years is not good enough for her. Its litterally not even physically possible.
@A Blunt Object, and as for alexandria ocasio cortez laughable plan here it is. Think i didnt read it lol its like 5 pages.
Https:/_ ocasio-cortez.house.gov/sites/ocasio-cortez.house.gov/files/Resolution on a Green New Deal.pdf
Pg2 "(A) global reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from human sources of 40 to 60 percent from 2010 levels by 2030
B net zero global emissions by 2050. In 12 years she wants to replace over half our infrastructure, vehicles, and infrastructure. And have it completly replaced in 30. Sorry dude its not possible.
"(G) working collaborativly with farmers and ranchers in the united states to remove pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from the agricultural sector as much as is technologically feasible, including-
By supporting family farming
By investing in stustainable farming and land use in practices that increase soil health and
By building more sustainable food systems that eunsures universal access to food" great not only does she wanna remove cow fart
@A Blunt Object, but she also wants to give everyone free food. Just another thing climate activists like to do is to sneak in their communist ideas into their proposed bills. Then flip theyre sh!t when the people against communism and socialism ret@rded idealogy kick it down. Oh how the evil republicans hate the environment woo is us how they want to watch the world burn. But lets continue absolutely shredding you shall we?
This bitch basically aims to replace everybuilding in america including the one im living un i believe would fall under needing to be replaced because it uses gasoline to heat it.
"Upgrading all existing buildings to achieve maximum energy efficiency, water efficiency, saftey, affordability, comfort, and durability, including though electrification." Im pretty sure that means she want to put in electric heaters, replace the pipes in the houses, and make sure its effeciantly leaking out heat. Which means theyre gonna have to tear my house appart. Thx cortez.
@Microsoft, how are my arguments from ignorance microsoft. Id like to hear your point of view. I dont think we can change our entire economy, infanstructure, industry, and farming aparatus within a few decades. Change my mind.
@BlazingBowman, You seem to be some kind of expert on all this why won’t you take the tin foil hat off and run for office I’m sure they’d love to hear your professional opinion.
@BlazingBowman, way to strawman an argument based on nothing we were talking about. I still don’t see where in the Green New Deal anything that Greta said or anything about 12 years.
You’re cherry picking details from things that we’re not even talking about, but please continue “shredding” me with your brilliant arguments.
All you’re showing is that you couldn’t follow a bill that’s a 14 page mission statement more than an actual policy.
You are also misinformed about how “upgrading existing buildings” works. When you say you’re “pretty sure” it really means you don’t know.
The standards of new equipment is improved, and as old equipment ages out it is replaced. I’m assuming when you say “gasoline”, your house is oil heated, and guess what when my oil furnace that was made in 1970 died I couldn’t buy the same exact one. I bought a new one that was more efficient due to codes and regulations, which also lowered my usage and my bill.
Man it was terrifying...
@A Blunt Object, wait how were we not talking about that thats all we were talking about? My entire point was i dont agree with radical doomsday people like greta thunberg and cortez and their insane policy plans.
@A Blunt Object, that the things they ask for are undoable and therefore unhelpful to the larger argument and productivity. And you defended them.
And yes i do know in order to upgrade the house and make it energy effecient there is alot you have to do to it. Removing the gasline, relplacing the windows and doors, redooing the heating system.
@BlazingBowman, my initial contention was that money from fossil fuel industries delays necessary investment and change. That’s what you responded to, and in amazing fashion because I had an opinion that was challenging yours I’m a world is ending doomsday sayer.
I never invoked either AOC or Greta, that was all your assumptions. I defended the actual text of the Green New Deal, not the merit of it though I don’t disagree with some of it, because it was obvious you were parroting talking points and hadn’t read the text.
I advocate for changes to improve emissions and remove carbon. Some a small measures some are larger. If you actually read the document that you claim to have, 2050 and 2100 are the dates that are in there, with a 10 year mobilization for investment.
If you think that’s radical or doomsdayish, or that infrastructure can’t change in 30 or 80 years you’re not paying attention to the world around you...
@A Blunt Object, yeah looks like you didnt read my comment because i litterally cited that word for word. If you think the world can go carbon neutral in 30 years youre nuts its not gonna happen.
I took exception to that comment because i dont think its just ignorance and evil corporate money that puts people off from youre side of the climate debate. Like i said many of your doomsday predictions have been wrong and it doesnt help that your side tends to talk down to anyone remotely skeptical like theyre evil or stupid. Thats what i took exception to.
And im sorry dude if you think we can tear down and rebuild this society within 30 years without a significant toll youre out of your mind. We got here with technology we had at the time fvcks sake it took decades to build some of the things well have to rebuild. And you wanna do it with technology that doesnt exist yet.
@A Blunt Object, i mean youre banking the lives of millions if not billions hoping that the tech required comes out somewhere in the middle of our dismantling of society.
@BlazingBowman, you act like society isn’t constantly being rebuilt. That’s the failure of your argument. A building that’s built today is more efficient than a building built even 2 years ago.
As for infrastructure changing in 30 years do you honestly believe that we had high speed data and wireless infrastructure in ‘89? The world changes constantly without you even realizing it...
@A Blunt Object, yes the world is unbelievably different from just a few decades. Ill agree with you on that. But we didnt start putting up server farms up and throwing away file cabinets before we had internet. The technology came and then we changed. Not vice versa.
@BlazingBowman, that’s how change happens, and the Green New Deal is more of a mission statement than a law or policy piece. It’s telling you the end goal, not the nuts and bolts of how to get there. Thats how mission statements work.
If you said in ‘89 we’re not going to need paper records in 2019 a lot of people would be using the same arguments you’re using today, yet here we are...
@A Blunt Object, yeah but what they didnt say was were gonna get rid of all paper files by 2019 and if you disagree with me your either stupid or evil or bought off by big paper companies. Either way your responsible for all the deforestation and ruining my childhood. It just happend.
@BlazingBowman, yup it happened due to investments that were made both public and private. Which is the same ask that’s happening now. The difference is the amount of resistance it’s met with.
@BlazingBowman, I’m going to turn this back at you. You’re worried about the “millions and millions of lives being treated by change” but what if we don’t change there are still millions and millions if not more lives in danger that way. You just sound frightened and careless because you might be inconvenienced by someone making your house efficient or whatever. I get it it’s not just the public that’s creating O2 it’s also business that need to change but still it’s the whole world as a collective that needs to strive for a better tomorrow. There’s already things being tested like hydrogen powered cars/trains in Germany and there’s always strives to make better batteries for things. The technology is already being tested it just needs to be perfected.
@A Blunt Object, no i disagree i think theyre forcing the situation. And using it as a cover to force political idealogies onto the public.
@sgtpepper47, we do absolutely need to change. Even if global warming wasnt real their are whole hosts of othe climate calamities thats fvcking the planet. What i disagree with is going off half cocked with major changes to society without even considering how we make them. And shaming anyone who disagrees or has reservations as evil or stupid.
Yes these alternatives exist. But theyre being tested. Theyre not effective enough to be implimented into society. Most standard electric cars can go for maybe 3 hours before having to be charged for like 12. Once these technologies are competitive im more than willing to implement faizing out old cars through methods that need to be discussed.
@BlazingBowman, personally, I think the increases in critical weather events is forcing the situation more than any political ideology, but that’s the crux of our disagreement. Good talk, I appreciate the discussion...
@BlazingBowman, then I don’t understand why there’s a problem if you agree there needs to be a change than that’s good. And clearly there’s advances being made and I understand you don’t like the methods or predictions on how but these are being done but also remember these are just thoughts and ideas that frankly are being spun negatively but some groups.
@sgtpepper47, my problem is the methods employed. The condecending way climate activists talk down to anyone who disagrees with them. I dislike how radical climate activists tend to be or atleast their leadership. I disagree with their plans and methods to change. I often see it as counter productive.
@BlazingBowman, I know we’re way down the thread, but I’d just like to point out we’re losing a lot of glacial ice, several penguin species are endangered, and the ozone layer depletion was a problem, but we did a lot of stop it.
@griffinstorme, the point is they lied. The glaciers arnt gone. We arnt all dead. They lied for political power. And while they did it they shamed anyone with any amount of reservations. And theyre doing it again and im supposed to think its a good idea to completely redesign eveything about our society using technology that doesnt exist yet.
@BlazingBowman, ummm. No.
Shout out to parent's who destroy their kid's hope for any future with their world view, and push them into the limelight because if they were to go out and complain w/o having any solution they would be properly spitroasted.
I'm sure this will go well
@SkizleDNizleS, Update: yep lol
Oh yay, Greta memes!
...oh fvck, the comment section
@SimonPetrikov, It's fun to scroll down really fast and go "Weeeeeeeeee!"
The whole world is way worse than NA with the Climate. You change China's direction on it, and I'll hop on board.
I enjoy this app. The snowflakes, who are threatened by a teenager speaking common sense, in the comments worry me
@RedeyeTarget, I hardly go on here anymore and judging by the comments it looks like I made the right decision.
@RedeyeTarget, excuse me how does she talk sense? Please explain to me how a child who has stopped going to school because she believes the world is gonna end in 12 years if we dont go carbon nuetral immediately talking any sense whatsoever? Im really interested in hearing youre side.
@TORGUE FLEXINGTON, because we disagree with you?
@BlazingBowman, sorry I was asleep. Climate change has the backing of the science community and that we need to act now is well established. What part of this is not sense in your view. Again I legitimately want to hear your view
@BlazingBowman, you have 1 year to shut down every plant not using renewables and shut down all the nuclear plants(cause we saw Chernobyl, that’s stuff is scary) and every vehicle on the road must be electric and the government must take away any gas vehicles away and convert 85% of the entire country’s power supply into solar or wind. Also the 100million people that lose their jobs will need to live off the government, oh and also free college and $15/hr for a part time job as McDonald’s. Reeeeeeeee
It’s hard work
@Richard Cypher, sounds easy and doable but reee downvote but not actrually try to discuss the issue.
@RedeyeTarget, anymore this app is trash and cancerous.
@RedeyeTarget, what’s hard work? Living in a Great Depression that will be 10 times worse than it was in the past and completely tanking the world economy? Yes it would be hard to live in that. No thanks I’ll stick with the way things are now
@Richard Cypher, That’s fine. You sit on your ass. The rest of us are going to work hard so that when our children ask us what we did, even if it doesn’t work, we can say we tried.
@RedeyeTarget, you’re a dumbass
@Richard Cypher, you’re welcome to attack me not my argument. I’d argue as to how well that works
@RedeyeTarget, I typed a reply to your dumb argument and deleted it cause no ones mind will change and there’s no point in arguing. Your doomsday idea is fine to you because “hey at least I tried”.
@Richard Cypher, Fair. I won’t change your mind and I see your view as you see mine. Best of luck
@RedeyeTarget, I don’t feel threatened by a pretentious and virtue signaling teen. She is possessed by a far left ideology. She doesn’t understand how complicated the world really is. She doesn’t understand it is the education she is avoiding that will give her the tools to truly fight climate change. We need new technology, and better alternatives. No, she wants to whine and blame because she feels outraged.
@RedeyeTarget, yup so lets redesign society with technology that doesnt exist yet. Doing something is fine but i dont think its even possible to do any meaningful change with the technology we have.
@BlazingBowman, oh wow you’re still mad about this?
@RedeyeTarget, lol no i just realized i didnt reply to you. Didnt get the notification i guess.
She's got some good acting coaches
@Branded, no she hasn't its fùcking terrible. Seen better in soap operas
@Branded, why does she always sound like shes out of breath?
@Branded, looked her up, she's on the autism spectrum. But the level she's on... Is very easily influenced. The words shes speaking is what's been ingrained in her by her parents. Who if you research abit further have more than one horse in this race.
She looks so grumpy. Someone toss her a Barbie
She has a bad case of ABF. Acting Bitch Face.
I recommend watching greta in the youtube video where she doesnt have a script...
you call it unpaid overtime, i call it slavery
This lady cracked me up when I saw her on the news crying
Asperger's people be crazy
My mini chocolate chip muffins does Terra Cycling.
she should audition for the next Batman movie or Marvel film. with this much publicity she wont havr trouble landing another acting gig
I prefer to be at work. I kinda feel happy. And if im not at work i drink or smoke cigars yes . small little cigars. Or just generally go nuts with anxiety. So i always says yes to work.
