I just handed in my honours thesis but my project partner seriously fked me over at the end.
He sold part of our project to a company, and pocketed the money.
I designed and built the test rig with the agreement that he’d process the data. It took me three weeks and he just stole a matlab scrip from a PhD student and processed the data in a day.
Then he refused to share his work with me, so in my report I had like... half of the data missing.
I’m pretty cut about it and our supervisor is on his side. I’m trying to figure out how to snitch, or if I should just let it go.
@waffles, get yours
@waffles, absolutely report that bastard. It would be ethically wrong to not do so, especially when it is professionally terrible and literally illegal for him to sell an external work like it was his. Do NOT let this go. If you do, it means he gets ahead in the world and is able to keep doing that shjt. Write a formal complant to anyone who will listen and dont let them brush it off
I am a member for the Psych community, which has a big problem with authorship and proper credit concerning students. So do hear when I say that you need to take the opportunity to oust scum like that. Not only will it probably get you back to where you deserve, but it also helps the rest of us not deal with 6ft tall trash heaps.
Down this Fvcker
@waffles, I'd report his ass man. You work too hard to let other people drag you down. And always remember that pigs can digest an entire human body, bones and all.
@waffles, if definitely report. Go to the school complaints or ombudsmen. In Australia we have a uni ombudsmen that takes on cases like this
@waffles, DO NOT RELENT
@waffles, dude do not let him go. Report the everloving shjt out of him until he gets what he deserves.
@waffles, go to the god damn dean if you have to then sue for that money. Personally I’d do everything to ruin him if he’s that under handed
@waffles, report him. There should be some agency on your campus whose job it is to manage grants, check for compliance, find funding opportunities, etc. Go to them. It's literally their job to deal with this bullish*t, or to direct you to the specific group of people whose job it is (some universities have a separate compliance office; at my university, it's called the Office of Research Integrity (ORI)). This sort of thing could cause your university to lose access to various grants and funding, and should be grounds for your partner to be suspended or expelled, and your supervisor to be fired. It's no joke, and it's not to be taken lightly.
EDIT: also as someone mentioned above, knowing what you know, it's unethical to NOT report him. If what he did gets out and they find out you knew and didn't say anything, they could try to nail your butt to the wall too. Don't do that. Cover your butt. Do the ethical thing. Take these buttholes to pound town.
@Dr Grimmwell, is the company who bought the work not also in the wrong for not ensuring he had the proper rights to sell it?
@PacificaPelican, you took the words out of my mouth, this is exactly what I was thinking.
Nintendo switch now
I grew up with a gameboy color, so no backlight. Not only did i have to hide the gameboy if i heard her coming, i had to turn off the flashlight and hide that too.
I have to admit I am truly loving these
Drag him. There’s a difference between what this guy did to you and what Rainbow SoundCloud Rapper did.
