Yyyyyep...It gets better, though, I’m sure. My oldest starts school next year, and that’ll save money on childcare, then two more years, and the next one is in school, too. Then I’ll have this lovely backlog of games I can start buying at three year old pricing. Gaming has developed this dynamic of “I have to get it/play it day one!” FOMO thing, and it makes you feel like if you don’t keep up with all the greatest games, you’re just not the gamer you used to be. I sat on HZD for a year, because BotW came out the same day, and by the time I finished that, I felt somehow like the hype of HZD had passed, but I finally bought it, and it was amazing. There’s nothing wrong with playing games outside of their release hype window, so take advantage of the sad times now, and pick up what you missed out on later. Here endeth the tangent.
@Berntley, it’s a completely different experience now. Before gaming was staying up all night with my friends and killing zombie hordes. Now it’s playing the Witcher for the first time starting last week because life got in the way. And it’s actually awesome not feeling rushed the whole time and having a full time job to support the games I want.
@Berntley, right! I'm getting modern warfare trilogy from way back that came out 60 bucks each and I'm getting it for 12 bucks. All three games. Plus black ops 1 and 2 for 10 bucks and a used ps3 500 GB for like 50 bucks. 8 for shipping so 58 bucks
@MetalHeadTony, I’ve always leaned more toward single player experiences, anyway, and it helps. But still, until our recent financial struggles at my home, I always felt the pressure of big releases. Now, I haven’t bought anything since the RE2 remake, and this Friday I’m buying Death Stranding, which is a day one purchase, but the first in like, six months. And that’s me having to pass on Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Jedi: Fallen Order
@Berntley, growing up is overrated?
@Berntley, I make double what I did five years ago before I had my daughter so I got way more money. I also work 1130am-8pm so I have mornings to myself. It's an absolute win.
@Gothem, That’s all a matter of perspective
@CrazyRightWinger, That does sound nice, though I like having the nine to five setup, and my job allows a good bit of freedom during the day. The only problem is that I have very little time for gaming anyway. I could maybe get away with it now, but it’s ultimately easier to wait until their in bed, but then I’m usually just in more of a “Meh” mood, and would rather just watch something. That changes Friday, though.
@Berntley, I played HZD WAY after it came out because I had finally gotten a PS4 last year and decided to buy it, didn’t play it until months later, and it became one of the best games I’ve ever played—it’s 100% in my top 10 list.
@SavageGreek, It’s hella fun. I need to go back and finish it. I’ve been balls deep into Death Stranding since yesterday, though. Taking a break to take my kids to the kids museum, though, which is super in line with this whole post.
@Berntley, ooo I heard good things about Death Stranding, definitely need to try it! And that is definitely in line with this post! Haha
@SavageGreek, it’s definitely a game apart from other games. People joke about it being a walking simulator, and they’re not wrong. Most of what I’ve been doing is delivering cargo, but the underlying story and progression of it is all pretty captivating.
Hello Dark Souls my old friend*
That’s what you get for procreating
Buying diapers in those tiny packages is for deadbeat dads who forgot it’s their supervised weekend with the court liaison.
@A Deformed Penis, That’s super presumptuous for such a damning statement.
@Berntley, definately, it may have worked out cheaper to buy the smaller packs due to an offer. You never know the whole situ
@Albatraous, Or that particular establishment doesn’t carry the bulk boxes. I noticed that all the signs are in another language. Spanish looking, but could be something else. Supercenters aren’t as popular in other parts of the world, to my understanding, which is where I usually see big boxes. Yeah, just so much shît to ignore in making such a pointed statement.
Plot twist those diapers are for him.
*laughs in infertile*
Bouta be me in 7 months. Gonna be a first time daddy
@3345Stewie, congrats! You’ll need 200 newborn diapers so start buying now! Then about 2000 sz 1s...
@Gothem, copy that. Currently at wal-mart so I'll store em till I need em
I’m trying to get my toddler into video games. We’ve been starting with my original Sega I got almost 30 years ago.
