Hey help me and my coworkers settle a debate: my coworkers think the new cgi is great and the movie is going to do really well. I think the old sonic cgi would have led to high movie sales because everyone would want to see how hideous the movie was going to be with creepy sonic.
Upvote if you think creepy sonic would sell better
@VibratingButtChomper, upvote if you think new sonic will sell better
@VibratingButtChomper, upvote if the movie will sell well regardless because Jim Carrey
(My brain ded coworker derailed our argument with this bullshjt)
@VibratingButtChomper, No upvotes for you
@SeussAlmighty, buddy how you gonna say that to a brother? In high school everybody called me Dr Seuss. I am the real SeussAlmighty. Turn those downvotes upside down
@VibratingButtChomper, everyone called me Dr. Seuss in high school too. Lot of people still do it to this day.
I think the fact they changed it will generate tons of sales, moreso than if they went with creepy because there would be fans like myself who would just not watch it or if I HAD to watch it I would pirate it. They listened to the fans and I think more people will see it especially after the uproar.
@Murderin Mike, I think that is a good thing. It will teach them that listening to the fans will pay off.
@VibratingButtChomper, yes but if they fix the cgi and still manage to sell it they can make sequels to make more money
@VibratingButtChomper, I feel the real question is, did they make the creepy sonic just to get alot of free attention for their movie?
@VibratingButtChomper, I love in a way, you are both correct. Do to the sheer wide spread outrage at old Sonic, awareness of the movie was greatly increased, but with the new design, the people who would have boycotted the movie on principle goes away. Whether this was intentional or bit is debatable, but Jim Carrey will always bring a crowd.
@VibratingButtChomper, I think the people who want ugly Sonic are just going to bootleg it and have watch parties. Pretty sure the main demographic watching this will be parents bringing their kids to theaters on the weekend, and they're more likely to spend money on a cute, approachable design over a creepy one. And that's not even considering that the trailer was overhauled to look like a classic kids adventure movie instead of the weird, ironic, meme-y, and somewhat inappropriate nature of the original trailer (seriously, Gangster's Paradise and a child abduction joke? The fvck were they thinking?)
Not a fan of Sonic. I think he's over rated.
