I see these memes and it makes me wonder if my school was just really good because in high school economics we actually spent several days going over W-2’s and 1040 and my teacher actually had us fill out a pretend 1040 (minus the 40 pages of bullshjt that turbo tax does for you) so we understood what was going on. Do other schools really not teach this in econ?
@TriangleTesticles, thats pretty neat. The its not really that needed anymore since the internet exsists and will basically walk you through it step by step
@TriangleTesticles, I didn’t figure out how to to my own taxes until I was almost 23, I just sent them to my parents to handle
@TriangleTesticles, your school had econ? I didn’t see an econ class until college
@Sven and Otar, my high school had an economy class. I didn’t go to public school thought, went to charter school
@Depressed Cashier, I had to file mock tax reports for my consumer math class in high school. Now, my mother runs several H&R Block’s and I talk tax code with her so I can stay up on certain aspects now though.
@TriangleTesticles, nope. Most schools don’t. Yours was apparently f’ing awesome though for teaching it
@Sven and Otar, Not only did we have econ, but it was required, you couldn’t graduate unless you took econ
@TriangleTesticles, my economy class taught me the history of economy and how to play the stock market
@Sven and Otar, My college econ classes don’t teach taxes... I think it’s a scam to keep the accounting majors employable (or to make people pay for accounting classes)
@TriangleTesticles, we had Econ in high school but spent all semester on supply demand 🙄 they didn’t go over taxes, but it wasn’t too hard to figure out. Just asked HR a few questions and got the form filled out
Taxes are so easy tho, just use turbo tax..it basically does it for you. You just put in the information from your W-2s and boom easy.
@owanobi, fvck TurboTax tho
@spongar141 , eh, I had good experiences with it personally, I was just using it as an example mostly
@owanobi, I was going to say that I love turbo tax, I’ve never had any problems. Of course I’m not like my parents yet and don’t have real estate to factor in, but it’s been nice so far
@owanobi, i mean if you took algebra and can use google you dont need a tax course
@Reedmg, TurboTax still works fine even with real estate. Taxes only gets confusing if you run your own business or are in commission only sales. If you own a business you should know how to file your own taxes anyway or learn to hire an accountant to file them. The mindset of “ohhhgooooddd adulting and taxes is so haaarrddd why didn’t school teach me waaah” has always driven me insane.
Edit: last comment wasn’t directed at you was just a general rant lol
@theduuuude, yeah I’ve never really minded doing taxes with TurboTax, but that’s good to know that it would only be hard with owning a business
We shouldn't even have to pay taxes
Yeah, its pretty fvcking easy when you rent and don't make much money.
Wait till you get older and own a home, have 2 cars, make a decent amount of money, have a 401k, donate shjt, etc. I just pay someone who actually knows what they are doing at this point
I just have someone else do it for me. So this way if something gets effed up it's on them and not me.
I was a teacher and I didn't teach how to do taxes because I don't know how
@TomPholio, my teacher had a big wad of cash he carried in his pocket, and taught us alot about economics and housing market, cause he was bored of teaching us math. He had like a dozen places he owned and rented out. Turned out he was like a big drug dealer in our area tho, still cool dude
@TomPholio, not surprising. Teachers rarely know how to do anything
FFS It's not hard....
They teach you the basic skills in school and YOU are supposed to apply those skills to your everyday life. Honestly taxes are not that hard.
Lol really easy for military, all you gotta do is go in and bring your documents. Done in less than an hour.
It’s not hard. Doesn’t require a class. Stop whining little bitches.
@x2 6x 9 lol, ok boomer
@Sivls, seriously doubt any boomers use this app.
Except for all those math classes.
