Idk. In the old games they just made indistinguishable sounds, so I figured the scientific community named them. Or some shjt.
@ThatAnnoyingStoner, the real reason they say their names in the show is brand recognition. Game canon I think the names used are less scientific and more likely just the common names. The pokedex lists species types, which does suggest a scientific community does do organization
@wynaut, so then would pikachu be more like dog and then the species type is more like the genus/phylum shjt?
@ThatAnnoyingStoner, pikachu might be more like a breed with raichu and pichu, it's obviously not 1:1 (we don't have anything to account for pokemon evolution for example), but that's the idea
I guess Meowth's name should be the Webster's Dictionary
@Shjtting Djcks, i dont remember if there is anything significantly different about him thats explained but he taight himself to speak and read to impress another pokemon. Hes an exception, asides from mewtwo but hes man made
@Guy Fawkes, If I recall correctly there was also a slowing who talked but I think that had something to do with his relations with Lugia as the movie was about Lugia and the three legendary bird Pokemon
@Guy Fawkes, if I remember correctly he couldnt learn any new moves because he tried so hard to learn how to talk
Is an orange called orange because its orange or is it orange because it's an orange?
@PunnyBaker, I live in a arid climate and the oranges we have are yellow/green. Because it’s always sunny they keep their chlorophyll and stay green.
And then there's Guzzlord who just screams into the void, seriously though lookup guzzlord screaming on YouTube and tell me how you get that name from that sound
