The best part of this is how it would keep Kylo Ren from being born.
Just saw the new Star Wars. No spoiling, but it was bad. Very lazy filmmaking. Cheesy af. Poorly written, poorly acted, and horribly directed.
@I Are Lebo, Poor writing yes.. cheesy yea but all Star Wars are cheesy. Poor acting no... Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver especially are pretty good actors. The reason this movie was a hail marry was because The Last Jedi did nothing to set up Ep 9. all damage control sadly. However it is fun to watch. 6/10
@I Are Lebo, J.J Abrams and his fvcking mystery boxes. And all that other shjt from TLJ.
@TheIbarra, Daisy Ridley was an emotionless empty shell that had no character development whatsoever and while I like Adam Driver, Kylo remains a silly character, emo and melodramatic, with no real backstory or motivations to anything he does.
@I Are Lebo, lotta plot holes with Rey makes a sloppy character but she worked with what she got. Kylos character was probably the best outta the new sequels because he had a consistent arc. Fall, Inner Struggle and redemption. He ain't the greatest actor but over all pretty good.
@I Are Lebo, normally you want to know the guy behind the mask, but we all wished kylo would have just kept it on, and his voice didn't help at all
@TheIbarra, all of the other characters were totally worthless. Po and Fin night as well have not been there, and the rebels that the movie kept purposelessly cutting back to added nothing to the plot.
It was lazy, campy, and one dimensional.
@I Are Lebo, it's hard to discuss feelings on the movie without spoiling, but I liked it. While it had its flaws, a number of them came from being tied to TLJ.
It's funny, but I feel like i've had this exact same talk with pokemon sword/shield.
Is it different than its predecessors? Yes.
Does it play off nostalgia to score points where it can? Yes.
Does it have flaws of its own? Yes.
Does any of that make it objectively worse? On its own, no.
Just like how pokemon is a game for children, star wars is a pg-13 family movie with space wizards and giant space guns. But fans have decided what is and isn't acceptable for the producers to do with their products. While there is a line to how much shjt the directors can give us (and TLJ does pass that line), they have to innovate something, or why bother trying to make something new?
In all fairness, TLJ was a mess, and RoS is the mop. It cleans it up, but gets dirty in the process. But at least it tried to make it pretty for us.
@NeroSaber, except it fails at doing that. The plot had more holes in it than Swiss cheese, the story was campy and melodramatic, as well as lazy and childish. There were SO many characters that were there just to be there, and it’s obvious most of the movie got left behind on the cutting room floor. It was frantic, never establishing any moment before jumping to the next, the dialogue sucked, and the acting was poor. There were no plot twists that weren’t patently obvious, and the ending was almost masterbatory in its cliché.
@I Are Lebo, for a second there I thought I was in the random section and this was referring to the first of the sequels... gotta hand it to em keeping the crap consistent
@I Are Lebo, The whole sequel trilogy would have been better off not existing, episode 9 didn’t redeem the other two and make it worthwhile, in my opinion. Episode Six was a great place to stop, I wish they would have left the saga alone and only done spinoffs and tv shows.
@I Are Lebo, seriously? Dont trash the actors or filmmakers or writers for doing their best in this movie. If you want to get angry get angry at Rian Johnson and Disney for not planning the trilogy or even thinking about plot. Everyone involved in this movie put their all in to conclude the trilogy and saga knowing how much it means to fans and the trilogy has been a trainwreck for many reasons. The acting was great. The production was great. I can understand why you dont like this movie (look no further than TLJ for most of the flaws), but everyone had lots of passion for it and most of the actors at this point have spoken out in one way or another how they understand it's been divisive and not what they hoped, especially for certain characters. So it's unfair to say that
@TheIbarra, I would say the only person that wasn’t acting well was the girl that played Rose. And that was because she just clearly didn’t want to be there.
@I Are Lebo, I didn't even see it, I had my friend tell me the plot and all I could do was roll my eyes, the story sounded so stupid
@Basil Fawlty, I’m not trashing the actors. They did a bad job. The writing was bad, the directing was bad, the cinematography was bad, the acting was bad. It’s not solely Disney’s fault that the movie was bad. The only aspect of that movie that wasn’t half-assed was the special effects.
Ny criticism is totally fair and justified.
This... Is incest
@lree, Luke views it as wincest
@FunnyPicsHoldGuard, Don't you mean twincest?
People need to stop hating starwars for what it's not, and love it for what it is. It's only going to piss you off being overly critical. Star wars is far from perfect and that is what makes it star wars. It's always been janky
I saw frozen 2 and that would also be an accurate description of that film too.
