I know this is a meme and all, but in case anyone is unaware, the United States gets most of their oil from the United States and Canada. The Europeans are the biggest importers of oil from underdeveloped countries
@The nOly One, and the people who own/lease the wells, extraction and refinery apparatus in those underdeveloped countries are largely American businesses. Why sell the magic black stuff from your patch of dirt when you can just go borrow another guys patch of dirt in exchange for some good ol' fashioned "freedom"
@The nOly One, Could've sworn we're stockpiling our oil and are buying others so that when the world runs out, we're still good
@The nOly One, usa is the largest producer. Yes but it doesnt change the fact we fight wars for oil. We sell to others. Isn’t it out we use our soldiers to fight for private industry?
@The nOly One, with my home state of Texas producing the most. In fact, in 2018 it produced over 1.54 billion barrels!
@18bluecat, I'm also pretty sure the USA has oil reserves globally at all their foreign aid bases (?)
@Implicit88, believe whatever you want (or rather whatever your college professors want) but as a soldier, I’m here to tell you that our wars in the Middle East have way more to do with human rights violation by tyrannical regimes and the abundance of terrorist cells who spend every day in their caves trying to make 9/11 happen again. Also, even if it was all about the oil, every soldier is a volunteer who swore an oath to defend America and her interests, and when you serve a nation of 330 million people who use oil based products every single day, oil is one of those national interests. So stop trying to paint soldiers as victims
@RepostSniper, as a veteran I can confirm this. I also can confirm that soldiers do a lot more than simply fight wars.
@Imaginaut, like sweep floors. Soooooooo much sweeping floors.
Thanks for serving before me man
@RepostSniper, the usa become involved in the middle east with the first gulf wars to ensure stable oil supply. This had nothing to do with protecting the usa. Terrorist from the middle east are our own creation from going int heir backyard to begin with. 9/11 was merely a response to years of usa aggression in the middle east. Learn your history. More recently we invaded Afghanistan for osama which was in another country, we havent left. Iraq for wmd that did not exist, syria for fake gas attacks that were never proven. The usa has backed many terrorist groups over the decades and if you mess with fire eventually you are going to get burned.
@RepostSniper, saying that simply because oil is a national interest that fighting for oil is a good thing to do is preposterous. You are basically saying nations can attack us as well if they want something we have. Thats just operating with 0 civility. By this standard thiefs are in the right.
@Implicit88, first we fought the FGW because the UN Security Council specifically told Sadam Hussein not to invade Kuwait, he ignored the UN, and then they promptly cried to big daddy USA to stop him, which we did by crushing Hussein’s military in less than 6 months.
Second, saying that we’re at fault for 9/11 is disgusting and illogical. We defeat a nation’s military because they invaded a country under UN protection, and then it’s our fault when radicals from that region fly planes into buildings full of civilians? Give me a fvcking break.
Third, name one country that we have attacked for absolutely no other reason than they have oil. Brazil has oil; why haven’t we invaded them? Same with Canada, Venezuela, and a bunch of other countries we could easily invade if all we wanted was oil. And last I checked, “thieves” don’t pay for what they take, and the US has paid for every barrel it’s ever imported.
Your arguments fall flat on their face, but I bet you can’t admit it.
@RepostSniper, its called manufactured consent. Of course the govt doesnt outright say we go for oil unless they slip their tongue. Why did the iraq attack kuwait? Cause kuwait was stealing their oil (claim idk if its true). Second. I am not saying us it to blame, but its a cause and effect relationship. Our foreign policy has given rise to many terrorist groups that hate us. Third if you dont see we invaded for oil you are just blinded, we have been purposely for years trying to find an excuse to invade venezuela. Our foreign policy to them has worsened the situation their. We have even sent forces to try and execute the leader. We have even backed his opponents.
We net export actually... but the meme is still historically correct and funny
Time to spread some freedom
