Oh! I learned about this in the discussion on an earlier post!
It’s for protection from wild animals, particularly durable ones like board and bears, while camping and more so when hunting. It has the stopping power to protect you and the maneuverability to work in confined or close up spaces where a rifle would be impeded!
Hurray for measured discussion! I learned something and was ready for the test. Someone grade me.
@Canis Arktos, but shooting 410 out of such a short barrel is pretty useless when its designed to be shot out of something much longer. Probably less effective than just using 44 magnum.
@Canis Arktos, Are they specially made shells? I know very little about guns, but having seen many funny videos involving shotguns and recoil I assume they’re specific to the gun and designed to not break your wrist when you fire?
@Nellybert , yeah, the .410 bore shotgun is WAY weaker than what most people think of when they think "shotgun"
It's good for snakes (And murder hornets!) But not typically that great for larger animals. That's when you load it with 45 Long Colt ammo, which is a traditional large-bore revolver bullet that will be more effective. Still not as powerful as a 44 magnum or the like, but respectable.
@Canis Arktos, hey, go you for remembering! And they are correct, the .410 shotgun is for small pests. The key to the Taurus Judge (revolver pictured) is that it can take both the small .410 good for snakes, rats, and other pests, OR .45 Long Colt, which will stop most larger animals. You can also mix and match, so say 1 .410 and 1 .45 Long Colt pattern. If you run into something big dump all the rounds and reload with just Long Colt. If its small, you're not gonna be blasting it with the long Colt first thing and you can always ride the hammer to skip to the next .410
@Canis Arktos, nope all guns are bad you failed the test REEE!
@Canis Arktos, you didnt properly cite your sources. F
@payton manning, it’s kind of upsetting that yours was the first to give me an actual grade... 18bluecat also failed me.... I guess I dont get to pass my “guns” class.
@Canis Arktos, no it’s so you can make holes the walls and open hatches
Just don't drop a loaded Taurus... Or shake it... Or walk with it even vaguely pointed at your leg.
Yup, that's right, a loaded Taurus killed its owner while he was walking. All safeties on, all care and precautions being taken. Commonly handled the gun, so he knew it well. Safety was still on after it had fired from his holster while he was walking to his back yard. Killed him in seconds.
Don't buy a Taurus pistol apparently.
@Wakeley, I actually have this Gun. Its great for close range while hiking for killing snakes. Much better than a 22 with snake shot. But I agree. At more than 6-7 feet away it would be totally useless. Just point in the general direction and no more snake. It’s pretty hard to hit a snake up close with a 44. I’ve done it with my 357 but it took some skill and it didn’t die on the firs shot even though I hit it.
@Canis Arktos, #bestcomments
I usually carry my Taurus judge in case grandma starts acting up
I usually carry my Taurus Judge when I go hiking in the desert or something for sneks n such
That’s a Taurus judge. Shoots .410 and .45 colt. Size matters
@Webbed Foot, is it a good gun? I like the look and the shotgun shells and I'm looking for a nice, fun revolver
@Mantis Tobaggan, its okay, barrels a little short with a high kick so you have to be careful of your aim for follow on shots, but its a good short range piece and the "two for one" nature is pretty handy overall.
I want to want one of these. But I'd rather wait until someone more reputable makes something like it. IDC about the life of the bore, IDC about how it shoots 1000 yds. (I'm no Jerry Miculek anyway.) But I do care that my guns are safe and reliable. Not 99.9% of the time. 100.00000% of the time.
@mas2de, sooo Glock?
@PacificaPelican, that's probably my first choice. I really like how reliable and good they are from all the accounts. But there are way too many parameters to mull over.
Uh...I feel like a handgun with shotgun shells is much better for home defense. Pellet dispersal is better against moving targets and short barrels are better for close quarters.
@Empshok, @“Pellets? Mebbe in the first chamber. Slugs from there on! Especially for those G.. D..... ‘murder hornets’!”
Not a gun expert but my friend took me shooting a while back and we shot one of these for the heck of it. It was fun but the gun felt a bit...gimmicky? Can guns be gimmicky?
That's too much. Just put snake shot in a 45acp. Much easier to control for multiple shots, and many more pellets per shot.
I bought this pistol in March and I quite enjoy it.
That would recoil harder than a mother f**ker
As a American I have lots of guns. One thing that really pisses me off is why the hell are 410 shotgun shell sooooo expensive! You can get a box of 12 or 20 gauge shells for like 10 bucks and get 100 rounds. But for 410 it’s $25 for just 25 rounds. It’s such a comfortable load to shoot too. Doesn’t tear your dam arm off and still gets the job done.
No one needs a military grade weapon like that for any reason😤# common sense gun laws
@CocoasBro, that ain't military grade dude. I'm fine with civilians having anything bolt, lever or pump action, but not with putting 60 rounds down range inside of 4 seconds. This pistol is designed around Bush carrying, usually to deal with venomous snakes, small varmints, or able to load a larger caliber for boar
@ Tobias Widower, are you seeeeeeerious?!?!?!?! Look at how big and scary that gun is. And it fires real bullets! Not just that it fires 6 of those real bullets. Nobody needs that many bullets especially bullets that big. You only need 1 real bullet to solve any situation. ANYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH THAT IS FAR RIGHT! #cucklife#my#wives#boyfriend#bought#me#perfume#today#yay!
Hey, the only time I ever did jury duty was when a local gang banger used one of these to permanently rearrange another gangbangers face
I say that might work against a bear
