Well when you’re directly responsible for preventing half the world from speaking German, you kinda got it like that.
@RepostSniper, or Russian, have you seen how Russians spell potato?
@RepostSniper, and we'd have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling Yanks
@that1german, we weren't even gonna get involved until Japan up and decided to blow up a bunch of ships
@RepostSniper, Maybe you should speak Russian then
@Not him again, hawaii would japan be so dumb to belittle us?
@dj evolve fan club, uh...what?
@Not him again, lets chew the fat man
@RepostSniper, Russia fought half the entire German Army during WW2. If either Russia, US or British didn’t enter WW2, Germany would have won. It required all three to win.
@theprofprofessor, oh did you forget the part where the Russians dropped out of WWI before it was over so they could focus on starving their own people with communism? And did you also forget the part where Stalin originally signed a truce with Hitler so they could tear Poland apart together? Throwing millions of scantly armed and untrained conscripts to die on the Eastern Front doesn’t make Russia the hero of the World Wars.
@JC839, see my reply above regarding Russia, and if you look into the history, Britain was getting ready to pull back to their island and fight a defensive war to the last man until we got involved.
@JC839, also, in both wars, before we even got directly involved, the bulk of the British war machine was built in the U.S. of A.
@RepostSniper, You’re going to ignore the Russian contribution to WW2 because of their politics? I’m not saying anything about morality, the fact is is that the USSR *may* have won on their own without USA after the German advance stalled at Leningrad, Moscow, and Stalingrad. Even if you don’t believe that the fact that they occupied so much of the German army and resources made the western offensives way easier, even the Italian invasion.
@theprofprofessor, you’re right, I should have specified that the U.S. is not only responsible for helping defeat the Nazis but also preventing communist Russia from winning the war by themselves and immediately occupying all of the territory that Germany held (basically everything from Poland to the English Channel). And let’s not forget, 11 million people died as a result of Nazi ideology in the holocaust, at least 20 million people died in Russia as a result of communist ideology under Stalin, and 45 million people died in China also as a result of communist ideology during Mao’s Great Leap Forward. So yeah, their politics kinda fvckin matter.
So thank you for helping me clarify that America’s intervention in WWII wasn’t only integral to stopping the evil of Nazism, but also stopping the far greater evil (as a matter of sheer historic fact and statistics, not opinion) of communism spreading to the rest of Europe.
@RepostSniper, 80% of all Germany’s casualties in WW2 were on Eastern Front. The Germans and Russians each lost more men in a single battle than we did in the entire war. US was mainly focused on Japan. If it wasn’t for Russia or Britain (for a refuel and jump off point for invasion) we would never have been able to beat Germany until we got the atomic bomb
The French are worse about it. We just expect it because it’s a fairly universal language. The French unreasonably expect everyone to speak French and will criticize you ruthlessly for not speaking it perfectly
@Russel Wilson, touché mutha fuçkér
I always try so hard to speak the native language, but I feel like their English is better than my whatever I’m speaking at the time.
@Atom bomb baby, In 2019 I visited 19 countries in 5 continents and I always hate how the U.S doesn’t teach a second language in schools.
Except when we visit France. We have to at least try to attempt to speak it if we want to fit in lol
@Diabolik, What if I don't want to fit in with the French?
@Diabolik, so you surrender to France's language demands? Ironic
