@Have An Upvote, Alright, so unlike these hooligans above me I actually did a bit of research to find out if it was true or not and way. It is true, but apparently there's no real solid (had to put a pun in somehwere) conclusion as to how and why. The most agreed upon answer as to why is because they needs to suck all the possible moisture they can out of their food because they live in such arid climates. As to the how, their intestines seem slightly different than most other mammals. Instead of just being smooth and elastic throughout, wombats have very rigid non-elastic intestines... we're not sure how that causes square poop, but that must be why right? No one really knows. Also no, they don't have square assholes.
So that's where they get brownie bites from
