Was she in pain? Yes. Was it poorly written? Also yes. The game had a million great ideas but was executed pretty terribly in my opinion, hence the hate it's receiving
@The Landshark , dude that's like bars
@The Landshark , honestly I loved the game lol like I thought it was well written for the purpose of making us feel depressed and at rock bottom, just like ellie feels in the game. It was an emotional Rollercoaster that no game ever has done for me before. I definitely see why it has the criticisms that it does and it definitely warrants some of them,i won't say its a perfect game by any means lol the first was still much better but I liked this game a lot too. I want to see a part 3 and get the happy ending I so desperately need for her now
@EVILdrPORKCHOP3, if you loved it then you're wrong and an idiot. Lmao kidding obviously, it's awesome that you liked it, it has a lot of genuinely incredible bits so I don't think it's the dumpster fire people claim it is. I don't think we can go into detail much because of spoilers but I and others (whose criticisms weren't based on Abby being a woman or the game being "too diverse") were disappointed by the decisions and choices taken for some of the characters because they didn't seem true to form. Plus the ending was ridiculous in my opinion
@The Landshark , you sly dog, you almost had me there, my jimmies were being rustled reading that first part haha I definitely understand why you and others feel that way, I think certain parts of the ending were weird or felt rushed for some reason. That last part of the game was just eh, but the actual plot of the end I was not expecting and i reveled in the misery and shock of it all
@EVILdrPORKCHOP3, here's the thing. I genuinely believe there's an amazing game hidden under all of the issues. Unfortunately the mechanics of the game don't align with what they were going for, plus some of the actions of the characters feel, well totally out of character. That and the game tries to make you empathize with a particular character too hard. On top of that, the ending was, again in my opinion, too unrealistic. The game wanted to be extremely gritty and realistic and portray the world and characters as human and unheroic. That's totally fine. The ending however is too unrealistic based on the actions of what a real person would do, put in that situation. It wanted to show a more virtuous side of humanity, I get that, but the way it was implemented made Ellie feel almost inhuman in my eyes
@The Landshark , SPOILERS
I thought it showed ellie's first step back towards the good that joel wanted for her. Like she had lost much of her humanity along the way, but it was that moment that she remembered how he was and what he would have wanted for her. She also never had as much of a taste for that kind of brutality and killing that others did, i.e her "conversation" with Nora
I mean by that point it's too little too late. She probably wiped out 10-20% of the remaining population of where they were at (don't really recall where it was, Seattle I think). If the game wanted to go that route, it should have given you two endings, based on whether or not you became the Ellienator and killed an army of people, the vast majority of whom never wronged Ellie
@EVILdrPORKCHOP3, unfortunately Ellie can no longer have her happy ending and chances are if we did get a part 3 we’d be playing more of Abby or a new character.
SPOILERS BELOW BEWARE
Also I don’t understand how a vision of Joel, the man who slaughtered everyone in his way to make sure Ellie stayed safe, is what made her decide that killing Abby was wrong and “not what Joel would have wanted”
@nemestrinus , he wouldn't have wanted that FOR HER. He did everything so that she could have a happy and normal life, not to follow in his footsteps
@EVILdrPORKCHOP3, see this could have worked if the ending were different, I actually thought that was an okay idea
If Ellie had focused solely on finding Abby and not murdering countless others, managed to capture her, and say was brutally torturing Abby and then had a change of heart, it would have been more believable than her just stopping mid fight when they were fighting to the death. Ellie by that point had lost two fingers, was gushing blood, and knew exactly what Abby was capable of. A real human being wouldn't have stopped until Abby was dead because by that point the fight was no longer about revenge, it was about survival
@The Landshark , but SPOILERS
Abby had already let go, she had said she didn't want to fight ellie. But ellie couldn't let go, she left her life and happiness to get revenge. It stopped being about survival the moment she lost the first time and Abby let her go. That moment that she could've killed Abby and chose not to is her learning to start letting go of those useless and harmful feelings. It was why she remembered her last moment with Joel when she began to let go of her anger over what he did. She said she'd try to forgive. With Abby in that moment she learned to forgive
@EVILdrPORKCHOP3, hmm interesting point. I'm actually glad to hear your perspective on the game, like I said it's not horrible, it's not even awfully bad, it's just extremely polarizing so I'm glad to have heard your opinion my guy/gal
@The Landshark , it's nice to have a conversation about opposing opinions that is civil and good-spirited lol I'm glad to have heard your perspective as well friend o7
