The white is actually the beginning of an ahegao shirt, which reveals how much of a degenerate Luke really is. This is further proven when he milks the alien and takes a swig right after, like some disgusting reprobate.
I love when people put uncorroborated “analysis” of films down as if they are factual and that the directors did them completely intentionally. Could this have been the case? Maybe, but unless you have an actual quote from Lucas saying so, don’t say it like you know.
@The nOly One, hmm, lemme try this.
You see, the clear symbolism is that all people have a dark layer they wear to prevent others from seeing their true selves. But that in the end, deep down, we’re all good people, and our facades just prevent it from being seen except in the worst of times. This is clearly shown in Luke’s clothing here, as well as with Vader. Just a pale sickly man seeking redemption under all that darkness and rage
Did I nail the pretentious analysis?
@The nOly One, I mean at least say what if instead of making it sound like a statement
People may actually not know this, but Luke’s lightsaber was green only because it was not blue or red.
If you pay close attention, you'll notice that Luke says "You have failed, Your Highness" while throwing his lightsaber away, which Lucas included because it's bad@ss and like the coolest moment in Star Wars.
The first drafts of ep VI actually had Luke falling to the Dark Side at the end. The original working title was Revenge of the Jedi
