My butt stinks
Science has shown that children are at the lowest risk of getting the virus, and have the least amount of symptoms if they do. Also, it has been shown that children do not readily spread the virus to adults, including their own parents and teachers. Teachers are not at a higher risk by being around children. Every other country in the Western world has kept schools open with no consequences. The only difference in America is that people in the government and media see an advantage to keeping everything closed and wrecking the economy, and so they will push any narrative that they have to in order to do this. They ignore the science while simultaneously claiming that science backs up their demands. The entire response to the virus I had been the biggest wool pulled over the people’s eyes in modern history, and the saddest part is that so many accept the narrative without question.
@Bobaganusche88, ok boomer
@Bobaganusche88, can you backups these claims?
@Bobaganusche88, as someone who contracted the virus, I hope no one will go through the hell I went through - and still go through - because of the effects. I contracted the virus from my parents, both of whom work in hospitals, and we’ve all had firsthand experience of how horrible it is. Don’t discount the severity of the virus just because of what you see elsewhere.
@Bobaganusche88, children are the dirtiest creatures on earth. I can tell u from experience, their genitals are very dirty
@Bobaganusche88, Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, France, Germany, Spain and Italy are just some of the Western countries who closed schools because there were severe consequences to keeping them open. You just stick to watching conspiracy theories on YouTube on how this whole situation is made up.
@Bobaganusche88, I appreciate the research you've done, but you can't just SAY that the science proves it. In your own words, "they ignore the science while simultaneously claiming that science backs up their..." demands? Look, I hate the current state of America too, but without actual sources, you kinda sound a little tinfoil-hat type. Especially that the gov't and media see a benefit from wrecking the economy, which is... What? What's the benefit? How does destroying the foundation of our economy benefit ANYONE?
BTW, I'll just add this - the thing about all other western countries keeping schools open? Almost complete bull. Nearly every country had to close schools during their response. Some have reopened, yes. But they also haven't had "no consequences". Some schools had large positive tests within a month - usually around 10+ confirmed cases.
Look - this virus is real, and it's killed people. Real people. The narrative is the least of my concerns right now... What about you?
@dj evolve fan club, I'm going to assume you are a parent with young children because what you said raises all kinds of flags.
@dj evolve fan club, 🤨
@dj evolve fan club, hold up
@Bobaganusche88, you are wrong on multiple levels, the most important of which is forward thinking. This is a virus, and viruses mutate. The most recent mutation resulted in a higher transmission rate. It would take nothing at all for a new strain to arise that is more harmful to children. We’ve already seen a strain of Covid that is affecting children differently, with the effects to their toes.
On top of that, the peak of the virus started at March break. We haven’t had full scale viral outbreaks with school in session, so there aren’t any past statistics to refer to. Opening the schools in September may or may not be necessary, but it WILL result in a spike in cases of infected students, and a number of them WILL die.
What number of dead children is worth the risk?
@SeussAlmighty, all in the name of comedy my friend. And maybe a little shock value?
@NeroSaber, I’m pretty sure that the scientists on TV said that kids get/spread the virus as much as anyone else - they’re just less likely to suffer badly from it. So they’re kind of kids the plague rats of old, in that they’ll be fine but you’re gonna die.
I’ve lost a cousin to it, and several old boys from Lodges based in the same Masonic Hall as mine have from it too. So I’m in favour of taking measures steps to keep people safe.
@Bobaganusche88, nice contribution to the death count.
@NeroSaber, i worry about the economy. If we keep shutting down, starvation will kill more then the virus. Be safe out there, but people will die. We need to look at the deaths we can avoid. Also its been over 6 months. It should be a new season like flu we need a cutoff to be able to evaluate the data. I hope the cure is not more deadly than the virus.
@humptydumpty2, canadian here. Our schools are closed too. So theres that as well
@Bobaganusche88, Mr. Empirical Evidence, here...
@pawn of life,
Luke Skywalker - "Amazing. Everything you just said was completely wrong"
There's literally at least 4 different misconceptions in that comment.
1. If we keep shutting down, starvation will kill more people - no. That's not a thing, hasn't been a thing, isn't even relevant to the discussion. Unemployment might be what you're talking about, but those are different, albeit connected, issues.
2. Be safe, people will die, look at the deaths we can avoid - I don't even get what you're saying. People will die, but whatever, I'm safe? That's not a toxic attitude or anything...
3. It's been over 6 months. It SHOULD be a new season... - I'm just guessing you're not a virology expert. *ahem*
THE REASON THIS IS A PROBLEM IS BECAUSE IT'S A NEW VIRUS BEHAVING IN AN UNKNOWN WAY THAT DOCTORS CAN'T DEFINITIVELY RESEARCH BECAUSE IT IS SPREADING AND MUTATING AT A RAPID PACE BECAUSE PEOPLE AREN'T TREATING IT SERIOUSLY. The fact you liken it to the flu is just stupid. THEY. ARE. DIFFERENT.
@pawn of life,
And 4. I hope the cure is not more deadly than the virus.
Trump is literally the only person I've heard say that, and it was just as stupid and unfounded back then. A cure will destroy a virus that is killing people. Explain to me, without using any bull from the president, how a cure would hurt more people than it would save. Please, I actually want to know how this train of logic works.
@NeroSaber, i said what i needed to say. You said more than i said about what i said. Way to take me out of context. I dont think a less than 1% kill rate is worth all this. Wear a mask, fine but I have bills to pay. Kids are the least likely to die from it. The average age of death is past life expectancy. And 40%of USA deaths came from New York nursing homes. And me saying be safe was me wishing you well! I guess you where too stupid to understand it. So i will spell ot out here! Wash your hands, wear a mask, 6 feet apart, and don't cough on people. I hope you listen from now on. Its called an opinion. If you stop attacking people you will get farther in life.
@pawn of life, I actually did say I didn't understand what you were saying, and I appreciate the clarification...
Although you also don't address the starving unemployment question, or the last question about the cure being worse than the virus, which is what I was most curious about.
Your opinion is valid, until misinterpreted information or plain misinformation leads to confusion. I'm genuinely just asking for clarity.
@NeroSaber, if the lockdown continues. The lockdown will kill more people the the virus. What is so hard to understand? If you dont work you get no money. You get no money government gets no taxes. Government gets no taxes social programs fail. Social programs fail no unimplement or food stamps. I think you can see where this ends. Just because Trump said something Does Not Make It Wrong! Trump said the sky was blue. Guess it must be green right? Educate yourself.
@Bobaganusche88, yes and tell that to my dying family members and friends who have caught it as well. Then go fvck yourself. I hate the media as much as the next guy, but that’s a load of crap. People are actually suffering. It’s not just a joke. I’m grateful to live in a nice safe area where all the other idiots like yourself are telling the “sheep” to wake up. Yet my family back in the cities are facing death left and right. I’m out of tears to shed. I have so many personal problems, I don’t have the luxury to worry about covid. But people in my family have caught it and died. And their friends are dying. And now it’s coming here, the farmlands, where I thought we were safe. No more tears. Only dreams. Good luck, hope you don’t catch it. That would be some irony.
@humptydumpty2, I agree with you, but half those places you listed could've been consolidated to just "the UK".
@Bobaganusche88, my buddy's 6 year old nephew just died from it. You should do some research with facts rather than spewing opinions you read on Facebook from other people without medical degrees.
@pawn of life,
It may be possible (for the reasons you stated) that staying shut down will end with more people dying from starvation than died from the virus. I don’t have the projections and I’ve seen some massive lines at the food banks on TV. However, if we open up, we will likely see many many more deaths due to the virus. Someone said at the start of this, if we take big steps, and then it looks like nothing happened.... that was the point. We didn’t want anything to happen. So I hear and share your fears but numbers, even the ones we put together, tell only a portion of the story.
I agree that social programs may be in jeopardy (again, you stated the reasons). I’ll say I’m sure as śhît not a 1 percenter but my salary kept me safe from the financial side for now. My gov’t check went to a local farm that’s trying to support people out of work. The feds have a lot of power... oftentimes. I think we’ll be better served looking to our neighbors like this farm to get through this.
@ThunderKnight, all of the statistics regarding children come straight from the CDC.
@Officer Killjoke, oh wow, one kid died? Let me bust out my violin. How many kids have been shot in big cities this year? I guarantee it’s a lot more than have died from illness.
@Bobaganusche88, dude. You're flat out trash.
