People don't really seem to understand that the majority of US officers have at least a 2 year degree, 1/3 a four year. They also go through training and are constantly trained. The level of training and education for them is always increasing and the majority do an excellent job. Or, we can follow that narrative and wait for a few years when we won't be able to hire any or pay them enough because nobody wants the job. Also I was recently at a training barracks where I saw white cops were the minority. Most were minorities.
@ARGluck, they purposely only choose people with under a 120 IQ to be police in the US, if the person has a higher IQ than that they are disqualified from the job
@Landrover, you referencing a single case is a fallacy. Even that was because they thought someone over 120 (which is a very high iq) would become bored with the job and was to combat turnover after investing a ton of money into training them (the very thing this meme is saying they don't do). Each district sets its own policies and that was over 20 years ago in one.
@ARGluck, 120 doesn’t seem like a high IQ to me, I must be quite a bit smarter than the average cop then
@Landrover, figured you'd say that. You're still missing the fact that was referenced to a singular event from one precinct.
all thats reequired technically in america is a GED, but most require secondary degrees like a two year criminal justice degree. Alot of cops serve in the military first because it helps alot. its not exactly easy or garaunteed to become a cop in the U.S.
Please require this in the US
@Spartan Adlai, ah! For 32 grand a year as a rookie? and put in the graveyard shift?
@Spartan Adlai, they do... except for deputies anyone can become a deputy sheriff... or sheriff you gotta be voted in though.
@seeUpee, so be it.
I watched the interview joe rogan did with jocko willink on police reform. The dude has some pretty creative ideas that make a lot of sense
Nah obviously you should be able to become sheriff through an election with zero experience. Heck you can even have an extensive criminal record.
