This is how you do a strike, not against the people but against the company
@Ald0bii, what kind of strike is against the people?
And how is this strike better than others in regards to not affecting uninvolved people? Yes this hurts the company like any other strike, but it hurts all those trying to use that bus for transportation. Most strikes only hurt the company and the workers and not so much others.
Edit: I thought they were just driving the route and not taking passengers. IGIN. They pick up the passengers but don't take their money.
That’s smart. Much smarter than shutting down the busses altogether.
@I Are Lebo, it is, I remember they did something similar in the UK a few years back, issues were resolved pretty quickly after that
Isn't that just stealing? Shouldn't they not be allowed to drive the buses? Sorry, not sure how buses work.
@18bluecat, they're getting paid no matter what. The company has to fuel the vehicles. The driver has no direct correlation with the passengers money.
@Davrial, what if they took away the keys?
@18bluecat, it is illegal of course, but it’s like a village committing murder. If you get enough people to accept it, it is impractical to prosecute. Further, an agreement to end a strike will often include forgiving some or all of the strikers’ actions.
Not sure what Davrial is trying to say. Not many people can manage getting paid while on strike.
@Ewok612, Ah okay. Thank you. As a college student, I've never been on strike.
This is the way
Everyone liked that
Thats how you protest. No one got hurt, their point got put across, and the publicity to the public all in one shot. No one dragged out of their cars and beaten, no one burned alive inside their homes, no one permanently blinded.
Pittsburgh did the same thing? The bus drivers did their route but prevented people from paying
Now that’s how u do a strike
Why didnt they just burn the buses and depot down. Everyone knows that's the most effective way to protest
This is good but one of the reason strikes work is disruption to other services. People complain to the bus services and they're more likely to listen to the strikers.
