Or they're awful pieces of shjt who just want to cuss because it makes them feel more important. I listen to people all day as a job, there's a big difference in swearing intelligently and being a trash person who swears to be tough.
@Xenn, you sir nailed it on the head for what my experience with people who swear has been like
@Xenn, accidentally downvoted, but 1000000% agree, it isn't intimidating nor impressive that someone can use the 'adult words'
@Xenn, very fvcking true
@Xenn, what the fvck do you know. I’m the coolest mother Fvcker on this planet, eat shít bitch I’m super intelligent
@Xenn, Yep, this is clearly one of those made up pictures (probably from tumblr) that’s just supposed to make dumbàsses online feel better about themselves.
@Xenn, im one of the people that say "oh fůck" after accidently saying fůck without realizing it
The opposite is actually true. Studies show that heavy and frequent swear usage is linked to low intelligence.
@Spartan Adlai, I've seen both.
@Spartan Adlai, I've also seen both. One of the smartest people I've ever met uses swears litterally in almost every sentence, often times as a stop gap for words such as "like" or "um". He is ridiculously intelligent and one of the nicest people I've ever met, but drops more swears than anyone I've pretty much ever met. Conversely I know several people that never ever swear, mostly as a religious thing, and they are.... Well not the brightest candle in the bunch I'll tell you that much.
I think it would be fair to say that people who use a lot of swears are usually heavy realists, not bogged down by the want to appease something greater than themselves and thus have a higher capacity for "knowledge" as they are constantly looking for what can be proven through facts and logic rather than relying on blind faith, thus they are better at culling out the bs and digging to the core of problems.
@Spartan Adlai, I could come up with a study that shows how cussing takes years off your life. I could also use the same study to show that it adds years to your life. It's all about how you interpret the data, which is why many of these studies are useless. Too many people have an agenda.
@HELLUVA ENGINEER, I cuss a lot. I'm a Christian, not a saint. I have a blind faith in God, but when it comes to humanity, I look for facts, evidence, etc. I also have a bachelor's in criminal justice. I'm a cop, so I've seen the darker side of humanity more than I'd wish upon others. Maybe that helps make me a realist as far as your statement is concerned.
But I serve God (albeit not perfectly) and I serve my community. I believe both of those are greater than me and I try to serve both faithfully.
I think a couple of the points you make are valid, but just because someone believes in a higher power and has a blind faith in that power doesn't make them stupid.
@Spartan Adlai, how dors one lower there intelligence? Ssking for a friend
@HELLUVA ENGINEER, soundsnkinda like me but im considered really offensive cause i say me cago en mi ot me cago en dios. Which means i poop on myself or i poop on god. Sounds funny when translated. But yeah im considered a evil satan guy. When in reality i have a flahslight to check pupils also carry cpr mask and gloves incase. Im emt certified aswell as other stuff.
@RogueKnight, a god among humans. You apache attack helicopter are gifted with common sense.
@RogueKnight, I don’t think he was trying to make a blanket statement about religious people but instead was trying to give an example of someone who doesn’t cuss that just about everyone would understand. I grew up in a religious environment and I can say for certain there are some seriously dumb people there. Not all or even most of them are dumb but it does seem the ones that frame literally everything in life to Jesus/god are on that end.
For example, a child gets a treatable illness that’s terminal otherwise but the parents think the power of prayer is all the kid needs. I think those people would be dumb
Obviously this isn’t reflective of the whole community but of extremists, but I bet these people in my example never cursed either.
My opinion though lol is it’s about causation and correlation. Which I think cursing has no correlation to intelligence it’s all just circumstantial
@Cuactemoc4919, since when does one's profession dictate how good of a person they are?
@Natural Sarcasm , hey, don't get me wrong, there are definitely dumb Christians. If you take any group of people you find examples of very intelligent and very dumb individuals within that group.
It goes for cops, politicians, religious people, atheists, criminals, FP users, etc.
I'm not trying to say there aren't dumb religious folks, just that being religious doesn't mean you are dumb.
@RogueKnight, in our society always.
@Cuactemoc4919, I disagree. There are good and bad, smart and dumb, in every profession. That includes mine. That includes yours.
Cops have been convicted of heinous crimes such as rape and murder. So have firefighters. So have Paramedics. So have soldiers and politicians.
Human beings are flawed no matter what they do for a living there are bad examples among the good.
I like to swear for fückin’ emphasis
Or they grew up in Boston
I swear because it makes some stories just a little funnier when you cuss or just out o anger when I’m having troubles doing something. Casual conversation it will never come out.
"Messy room = intelligence!"
"Swear words = intelligence!"
"Night owl = intelligence!"
"Procrastination = intelligence!"
All of these things are bullsh!t to make people feel better about themselves. You know what is a sign of intelligence? Intelligence.
Cool to know that the homeless man shouting in the Wal-Mart parking lot is an emotionally stable genius. According to psychology.
When I was young, my parents told me not to swear so I never started (except for script reading). They also told me to not drink or do drugs so I've spent all 24 years of my life sober.
But,, they, aren't intelligent enough to, correctly, use, commas,
Yeah, this is internet bullshït
