The world when we do interfere in a disaster: "America should stop policing the world!"
@Mantis Tobaggan, that's cause your solution is to just shoot everything until the disaster stops
@Orlandude, hey man, make up your minds. You want our help when we aren't there, but when we are you're upset too.
@Mantis Tobaggan, thank Woodrow Wilson who through inactivity and his own idiotic philosophy potentially caused all of the problems from 1912 onwards pretty much all of them
@eleven, right... Cause the US president dictated what Europe and everyone else did back then.
@Mantis Tobaggan, the world when we don't interfere in a disaster: "America needs to do their part to make the world a better place"
@Mantis Tobaggan, the world when America does nothing
"What a bunch of bastards Americans are, they don't care about the rest of the world"
@eleven, bro in 1912 our policy was basically fvck off and leave us alone. America wasn’t a real world power until the 40’s cuz we were the only country that hadn’t had its infrastructure bombed back to the Stone Age. Why? Cuz we’d spent the last couple decades telling everyone to fvck off and leave us alone
@Mantis Tobaggan, Best part is, they don't even know that we pay more than our fair share in NATO and the UN to make up for the losses.
@BigJohnson86, if we got into the war earlier we could have given Europe and Russia the forces needed to end the war far earlier potentially ending the threat of the rise of Russian communism, Hitler would not have rose, Wilson policies would not have so drastically affected Central America I’m bad at words Alternatehistoryhub as well as others could explain it far better I can
@eleven, bro the rise of nazis was directly due to the punishments handed down from the First World War. I’m not sure how kicking their ass a little more would stop that. Our expansion due to entering the war is what set off the fiasco that is out involvement in basically everyone south of Mexico. Russian communism started with WW1 and we weren’t particularly anti communism til after the war. If you wanted to reset a case for post WW1 maybe but we had little to no reason to be involved in most of that and we weren’t big enough players to flex on people til after the war
America provides more humanitarian aid than any other country in the world, and it’s not even close.
@RepostSniper, hmmmmm not exactly, America frequently skerts doing its fair share and since its the global central economic hub their ain't much to be said about it. America also has a long list of human rights and foreign policy violations to offset a decent chunk of what you would consider "humanitarian" aid...... not to say they don't do good, it's morso just the cost of doing business.
@danied1, 2017 figures for foreign aid disbursed reflect that America is #1 in the world at over $34B. Germany is #2, about $10B behind us.
Without even starting to go over the numbers regarding all of the nations that simply don’t feel the need to pay for a substantial military or contribute to coalitions like NATO because they know they can depend on big daddy America, I rest my case.
@RepostSniper, No you're right in terms of contribution size. However that is a hard statistic without critical analysis. Comparatively the US in 2017 had a GDP of 19.49 trillion (USD) and Germany had a GDP of 3.657 trillion (USD). So by comparison Germany did much more.
@danied1, my mistake. The US contributed $34B through the international Development Assistance Committee alone in 2017. Our total foreign aid through all departments that year was over $49B.
And to your “well ackchually Germany gave more aid by % of gdp” argument, let me ask you this: if country A has a $1000 GDP and donates 1% of it to feed hungry people, and country B has a $100 GDP and donates 5% of it to feed hungry people, which country fed more people?
@RepostSniper, America has the largest economy in the world, approx. 1/4 of the global economy I believe. To say by definition it "did more" in terms of aid by given more than other country would be a simple statement to make. But in the international political economy things aren't that simple. If Jeff Bezos, with a net worth of 35ish billion, donated $100,000 to a charity. When compared man, whose yearly income is $100,000, donating $1000 you would say that the lower earner did more.while the contribution is appreciated, if you are disgustingly rich throwing your chump change around doesn't get you a standing applause. AGAIN, that also doesn't account for the US numerous human rights and foreign policy violations (Even from just the current administration). America in the past 4 years has continuously given less that what they agreed upon in written agreements, while also strong-arming naysayers with its economic power, this is a fact.
@RepostSniper, Just checked, In 2018 America scored dead last in the foreign aid index. But in the 2020 report, in 2019 the US scored 18 out of the top 40 richest countries....... until you adjust for income, which places America at 35/40. Not really anything different then what most people (I guess outside of the US) know.
@danied1, talk about percentages all you like, pal. We’re #1 year after year in number of hungry mouths fed. This is a fact.
@RepostSniper, foreign aid doesn't just mean feeding the hungry? You also have the most expensive healthcare system in the world and yet of the developed nations you are ranked 27th. The most American thing about this exchange is dedicated you are to thinking your country is operating at a net positive in social welfare. You tout "feeding the most mouths" when talking about foreign aid and I'm sure you would consider feeding the poor a bag of chips as "one satisfied hungry person." Im sure when trump showed those amazing 4th grade bar graphs about your countries standing you went "Yeah, America can't be doing the worst out of all other developed nations!!"
@danied1, my point is donating a high percentage of your country’s pathetic gdp still doesn’t do as much good for the world as America spending a tiny fraction of its gdp. If you think you have the grounds to shït on America because it’s not giving away enough of its money to foreign countries by percent, fine. Then I get to shït on your country for not spending enough money on its military and NATO membership to discourage Xi or Putin from steamrolling you without being dependent on America for backup.
And I’m so glad you brought up healthcare. According to the Milken Institute in 2011, 57% of all new medicine in the world is researched and developed by the US of A. So if the healthcare is easily affordable in whatever country you’re from, thank an American because without us, your country might actually have to pay the initial cost to research its own damn drugs. Imagine that.
Talk shït about about America, the president, or me all you want. All I hear is a jealous little brat.
No, we save everyone from alien invasions or robot armies. We don't cover pandemics
Wow I didn’t realize we were even greater in reality!
Not true at all
We are way to busy infecting each other to even bother to save anyone
Well we are about to be hit by two hurricanes so we're kinda occupied at the moment
@Sexy Homunculus, 1* Marcos has been downgraded to a tropical storm and is falling apart very rapidly.
Shrek is Love, Shrek is FVCK YOU!
Yeah, lot of idiots in the country who have to ruin it for the rest of us
Hopefully we'll become isolationist again. Then you can all go f**k off! We don't need you!
We will happily send disaster relief efforts all around the world and send peace keeping efforts and all sorts of help but I’m an American citizen and I will not give up my freedoms! Fûck your mask! See if I care when people die
Plot twist: America is the catastrophic disaster.
