I hate when people do that existing thing
@Awc123awc, especially when they do it in public.
@ThePandaPool , I hate it when I do it
If you aren’t going to wear it right, don’t wear it at all.
@I Are Lebo, glasses fog is a real problem for some people. But there’s no excuse if you’re not wearing glasses.
@Hot Coffee, I disagree, I work in an environment where I am constantly moving, having to lift heavy boxes, climb ladders, squat, etc...in other words I have to breathe heavily which sucks in a mask because you don’t get as much airflow and I’ve legit gotten headaches from that, so while I’m working I keep my nose out so I can breathe better
@I Are Lebo, but i have to have it on my face to go into the store, because my state threatened to take away the businesses license if they didn't mandate that all customers wear a mask. I don't have the rona, so me wearing it improperly isn't going to hurt anyone. But if i could get my groceries without a mask, I would.
@Doctor Yak, you know definitively that you don’t have a disease that is often asymptomatic? That’s amazing.
@supahotfiya, touché, was thinking about being a customer or an office worker.
And just to be clear, I think wearing masks and social distancing has gotten to to point of absurdity. We flattened the curve. Time to return to normal life.
@Toad, comments like this make me hope I get the coof and die.
@Toad, I can be reasonably certain, since I hardly leave my house, and rarely interact with other people.
Also, as an aside, if it's mostly asymptomatic, why are people so afraid of it?
@Doctor Yak, because it affects people differently, you could catch it and not know it because you’re asymptomatic and then give it to someone with a weaker immune system and they could die. But apparently a lot of people would rather risk other people dying than be slightly inconvenienced
@supahotfiya, but isn't it more likely that it is also asymptomatic for the person I might infect? And I mean, shouldn't the at-risk population be the ones to shutter-up and take precautions to keep themselves safe rather than forcing everyone else to change their lives to fit the at-risk population?
@Doctor Yak, yep
@supahotfiya, then you’re negating the whole point of wearing it
@Doctor Yak, people are afraid because an increasing amount of otherwise healthy people are ending up with permanent heart or lung damage. In addition, they likely have family members at risk. The types of people who refuse to wear masks or wear them properly are the ones keeping the spread high, because there’s a LOT of them that share your view.
@Hot Coffee, the curve is not flattened, and is spiking rapidly with the beginning of the school year. Not sure where you’re getting your info from, especially as the USA approaches 200,000 dead and I don’t even know how many crippled.
@I Are Lebo, the cdc.
Go look up total number of yearly deaths in the USA, perspective helps.
@I Are Lebo, my outlook might be different if I lived in a big city where it's actually a problem, but where I live we have very few cases as it is. And, if I thought I might have the rona, I would choose to wear a mask if I went out of the house at all. I don't like being de facto forced to wear a mask when it serves no purpose, because I'm not sick. I value freedom over security, and I think all of this stuff should be voluntary, not compulsory.
@Hot Coffee, yeah, I have. And so far this year, 5x as many Americans have died to Covid as died to automobile related incidents in the entirety of 2019.
You are downplaying a severe crisis. In American in 2019, 38,800 people died to cars. 34,200 people died to influenza. 606,880 people died to cancer.
This means that Covid is, in less time, rapidly approaching the death toll of THE LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH IN THE USA.
You are in the wrong on this issue.
@Doctor Yak, and the fact that so many people agree with you and are self centred like you, is why America is approaching 200,000 deaths. The mask is mandatory in crowded public places to protect people from you more so than protecting you from other people. I don’t like it either, but in a responsible society, you do what you have to do.
Don’t mistake inconvenience for oppression. Being forced to wear a face mask in public settings over a temporary timeframe does not infringe upon your freedom.
@I Are Lebo, when did you start paying attention to death statistics? How long have you been aware of cause of death classification?
2017 saw 2.8 million deaths, all causes. This year there have been an estimated 66k more deaths that average (so far). This represents about a 2% increase (so far). Of these only half are attributed to COVID19.
Long story short: the majority of people dying from COVID19 would have died this year from something this year regardless of the presence of COVID19.
@Hot Coffee, when did YOU start paying attention to statistics, because you’re coming at this form THE most retarded perspective. Comparing the death toll to one cause against all causes and going “oh that’s not so bad” is absolutely idiotic.
The official numbers of deaths caused by Covid is currently just shy of 920,000 globally and 200,000 just in the USA. If you actually think all of them would have died anyway, you’re a moron.
Are you a moron?
@I Are Lebo, 1998 for statistics in general and 2006 specifically as pertains to medicine.
No, not a moron, just cognizant of how disease works on at a population level.
Look at the attributes of the people who die from COVID19. The overwhelming majority are elderly people with numerous co-morbidities. Yes, most of the people who die due to COVID19 have very little time left regardless. I’m not saying they wouldn’t have lived a few months longer if they had avoided COVID19. I’m not even saying that there aren’t people who died tragically early because of COVID19.
What I am saying is the number of people dying this year, while increased, is not alarmingly increased. That says a lot about how bad COVID19 is (or isn’t).
@Hot Coffee, tens of thousands of healthy people have died to Covid. Do you have any idea how many of the casualties have been doctors and nurses?
You’ve bought into propaganda that says that Covid is only a threat to the geriatric. It’s not. It’s a big deal, and mixing up statistics like you have been is an entirely dishonest way to approach this issue.
There are now tens of thousands of people with permanent heart and lung damage because of Covid.
If your only focus is on the total dead, then you’ve completely missed the plot, which means you are NOT cognizant of how diseases work at a population level.
Your ignorance on this topic is astounding. I genuinely thought you were smarter than this. I still think you are smarter than this, but as I said, you’ve bought into propaganda.
@I Are Lebo, what propaganda? I’m confused.
Seriously. Any severe pneumonia will result in pulmonary scaring! That’s typical sequelae of moderate to severe pneumonia. Insults to the heart are also very common in severe pneumonia because the body is in a reduced oxygen state. This isn’t specific or restricted to COVID19!
As to the nurses and doctors who’ve gotten sick, they are at increased risk due to significantly increased exposure. At the onset of this mess, I actually expected far more nurse/doctor casualties than have occurred. One of the reassuring attributes of COVID19 is the lower than anticipated infection of our frontline workers.
And what statistics am I mixing up? Are you referring to my use of 2017 total deaths? I brought that number in for reference, the number of deaths from year to year is fairly stable and so I picked the most recent year I could find with a brief google search. Current year death stats are not very reliable because they are constantly changing.
@I Are Lebo, if COVID19 was as bad as CNN makes it out to be, we’d be seeing a massive rise in the body count (this seems to actually have happened in China), but we aren’t seeing this happen. There were early signs this might be disproportionately affecting younger people, these fears have not been born out. If this was the case, the protests would have collapsed within a couple of weeks due to the spike in deaths. Didn’t happen. There’s a reason the news shifted from talking about the number of deaths to the number of new cases.
Is COVID19 a serious illness? Absolutely! Serious enough to shut the world down for a half a year. No. Not even close.
Dick nosing is basically the same as not wearing a mask at all, but just because a piece of cloth is touching their face, people act like they have a magical anti-virus barrier and can go where they want with no hassle. Security theater
I do that, but only on the way to and from the car. Once you’re inside though, there’s no excuse
The mask is 99% for covering the nose(because you dont breathe out the mouth)
That being said, if there's no one within 20 feet of you, and hasn't been in the past 10 minutes, then by all means take the mask off and breathe comfy for a bit.
Quarantine failed, masks dont work, we're all gonna get sick. Might as well be comfortable...
@sploot, wouldn’t talking be breathing out of your mouth?
Isnt the point of the mask to catch the virus when you cough out? So it should still work right?
I hate when people think that this one virus means we have to give a shjt about other people for the first time in humanity... fvck everyone. If you die, you die. If you don’t, congratulations!!! Now look at my name icon- boom. Dickbutt
Covid19 death rate is only 0.000003% yall all been played like the side b%tches yall are!
