Isn't that the majority of countries though?
@iLikeBigBooks, yeah everyone is the hero of their own story as Churchill said History is written by the victors
@eleven, and england won alot
*America, *cough* *cough*
@Potatowhiskers, Oliver Stone's untold history of the United States
@Potatowhiskers, I don’t know of any school system that shïts on their own history as much as the US school system does.
@Jolee Bindo, A lot of the stuff school taught me growing up really painted the US in a way better light than it should. Hopefully it's been corrected nowadays.
@Potatowhiskers, I honestly don’t mind a country choosing to teach its children that it is a country worth being proud of or a part of. The trick is to do it in a way that doesn’t ignore the lessons we should learn from.
Ex: the USA was instrumental in ending the Axis powers, stopping the holocaust, and liberating the Chinese from a Japanese army commuting numerous war crimes.
Also, the Nazi’s got their ideas of racial purity from a number of groups within the USA. The US government enacted numerous forced sterilization a and imprisonment of its own citizens (two separate groups affected around the same time).
Dropping the bomb was controversial and honestly I’m not sure it’s the kinda action that should be seen as entirely good or entirely bad.
(And that’s just a snippet of WW2)
It’s ok to be proud of the people we’ve helped and acknowledge the people we’ve hurt too. It’s all meant to help us learn and grow to be better.
@Canis Arktos, I completely agree my guy, as a History major in college I just like learning about the factual events that happened.
@Potatowhiskers, oh gosh you’re coughing I hope you don’t have the covid.
@Man with a Cat, I have no mouth yet I must cough
@Potatowhiskers, to be honest I’ve picked up the bad habit of reading loads of comments and then dumping all my thoughts and feelings one one entirely reasonable poster as if all the others will read my reply.
@Loner, just started watching this. Pretty good so far.
@Canis Arktos, lol yea i too am like tht
I'm from the UK and this certainly isn't true 😂 I would say it applies more to Germany, but in honesty Germany also teaches history for what it is.
@Turtlezen, yeah this more America
“Heads I win, tails you lose.”
Yea here in america we talk about the evils of Germany during ww2, but then spend maybe 5 minutes of the faxt tht we (america) did the same things to asians here just to a lesser scale.
@jerriest jerry , well, we put them in internment camps. We didn't construct multiple death camps for the sole purpose of killing as many people as possible for as little as possible and as quickly as possible. We rounded up a group based on their race because we were at war with the country some of them came from.
Everyone hates everyone, get over it.
