I miss pre-endorsing a presidential candidate Rock. Wish he had stayed out of it. Not saying he has to, just wish he had.
@Snarfel Burger, why
@Snarfel Burger, I know, I hate celebs these days. I guarantee anytime they tell you to vote, what they actually mean is go vote for Biden. if you tell them you are voting Trump, they will tell you not to vote lol
@owanobi, because voting is the most important thing in the world unless u vote for the other guy
@owanobi, yeah I get very jaded about the election the closer I get because of shjt like this. I keep getting texts from "Texas Democrats" asking me if I will help texas vote blue this election. So many texts. And I think that's a lost cause anyway. People always think texas will vote blue every election. It starts to look blue at the beginning as major cities count their votes but always switches to red as the more rural areas count theirs. I'm honestly sick of it and don't like either.
@Snarfel Burger, I mean celebrities are just people, they’re allowed to have opinions. I really don’t get the telling celebrities and athletes to “just dribble/do whatever your job is” makes any sense. If my uncle who never made it through middle school can have his political opinions blast Facebook thrice a day, so can anyone else. IMO it would be smarter to be apolitical if you’re job puts you in the public eye, but people should be allowed to have opinions, it’s the ideal that the country was built on.
@jayne cobb, a lot of Californians are moving to Texas since they ruined their state, so you know they aren't going to change their ways and still vote blue. Texas in a few years could become purple or even blue. Only time will tell. I honestly wish both sides actually had our best interests in mind but both just want power, at least Trump has been doing good things and he isn't part of the normal establishment, that's why the media wants you to hate him so much lol
@owanobi, what has he been doing that’s good?
@Turing, great economy, 3 historic peace deals in the middle east, building the wall (if you care), made help a cash crop, among other things.
@owanobi, sure peace deals but so has other presidents made peace deals too. The wall isn’t built. There isn’t any evidence to support that US is making profit for giving out aide.
@Spetsnaz , I never even implied that he was wasn’t allowed to have opinions. That is precisely why I ended my comment by saying “not saying he has to (stay out of politics), but I wish he had”. I knew someone would respond exactly how you did, it’s what we hear everytime someone criticizes celebrities for their tone-deaf condescension.
@Korywitak, the reason it would be nice if celebrities didn’t endorse political candidates is because when you endorse a political side, there are a whole host of issues and differences in values that come with that. Whether it’s right or wrong, you can’t help but see them in a different light. The safest bet to keep from being disappointed is to just assume all celebrities have the opposite political ideas from me (which probably isn’t far from the truth) I just hate it when they confirm my assumptions.
@Turing, oh ok, because one president did this at one point it doesn't count, completely removing all context. Guess Obama did nothing in office since some other president did what he did at some point. Dumb logic. As for the wall, there is a good section of the wall that has already been made. And there is also plenty of evidence of the economic boom under Trump (especially in the stock market) and over 50% of people agree that under Trump their life has been better off in the normal presidential poll.
@Snarfel Burger, they’re humans who are more than their job. If finding out something so trivial as who a celebrity is voting for turns you off of them you weren’t really a fan. If they’re not being an asshole I mean who cares.
@owanobi you really dodged my response.
@Spetsnaz , true but there’s a lot of dumb ppl out there that just do whatever celebrities say so they actually have control over ppls votes
@Turing, I answered everything you commented on, you dodged the fact that Trump allowed Hemp to be used as a cash crop. There is also a lot more Trump has done.. Lets see, off the top of my head he: Banned Critical Race Theory from government, is bringing the troops home from around the world and plans to have most if not all back before christmas, he handled covid decently considering the 10th amendment and the little he could actually do and shut down the borders to china before anyone recommended. Unless you are going to give me imperical evidence proving otherwise I don't really care what you have to say. You just don't want to admit that orange man has done some good things..doesn't mean is perfect, not by a long shot, but considering the competition, he is the best we got.
@Korywitak, You need to reread my initial comment, I never implied a celebrity was only their job and shouldn’t have opinions. And if 2020 has taught us anything, who you vote for president isn’t that “trivial”. To reiterate what I said in my reply to you, which political party you align with actually does give everyone an idea of what you think on a whole host of topics and what some of your values are. Even if you don’t have an opinion on some topics or you disagree with a lot of your chosen candidate’s ideas, you publicly endorsing them is an endorsement of their policies. Ignorance is bliss and I personally would have preferred not to know about the Rock. Still think he’s a cool dude in a bunch of ways. But he definitely went down several rungs in my book. Obviously you would say, “that’s your problem, not his” and I would say you’d be right, but I know i’m not alone in this way of thinking about celebrity endorsements.
@Snarfel Burger, yeah see you say that but you also say a person having an opinion is tone-deaf condescension. I think this has nothing to do with his celebrity status and everything to do with him voting for someone you don’t like. And honestly believing “sure other people can think for themselves, but if they disagree with me I won’t like it” means you probably just want these people to entertain you and not actually be themselves. I mean in this tweet he doesn’t even tell people who to vote for ffs.
@bobbylupo, yeah don't vote for him. Fvck him. He's a POS.
@Spetsnaz , you must have missed his ringing endorsement of Joe and Kamala. You should look it up. The condescension comes in when they tell us to vote or put on little performances to encourage us to vote. If you are of voting age you shouldn’t need a celebrity to treat you like a child.
@Snarfel Burger, well voter turnout in the US is pretty pathetic, so I don’t see how this really harms anyone. Could be because a lot of people work to keep voter turnout low, but IMO high voter turnout is typically a sign of a strong democracy.
@Spetsnaz , that depends on if the voting population is informed. If someone doesn’t even know who their own governor is or the basics of federalism, they really have no business voting. There’s an entire class of politicians that use celebrities to turn-out uninformed voters. If you have to have a celebrity convince you to vote you are likely one of those uniformed voters (and I don’t mean “you” as in you specifically, “you” in the general sense)
@Turing, where did u get your information on the wall. Not being sarcastic honestly curious. As far as i know most of what has been built was restored to already built structures. I think all they did was add 5 miles to the wall. Unless they somehow got funded and finished it in a month i dont believe the wall is anywhere near built
Is Kevin heart getting taller? Was this taken after he broke his back in the car accident? I need answers
@Poisonwolf, only somewhat related, but he was really stupid in getting that car made. It’s called a restomod (restoration-modification) where you put modern amenities and drivetrain into a classic. Easily a $100,000 car, but he didn’t get a roll cage or additional supports added. So he basically made a car with modern power and speed, and 1970 safety standards, he is incredibly lucky to be alive.
@Spetsnaz , so you’re saying his booster seat did its job.
I hate Americans. I especially hate these types who just jam their politics down your throat, even if you're not american. At least they make good movies.
@Captain Correction, well aren't you just a beacon of positivity
@Captain Correction, he’s just saying to vote he’s not even pushing a narrative towards a particular candidate. Seems like he’s keeping it as neutral as possible not sure how that can bother you so much.
@Prime Umbra, Because he came out a couple weeks ago officially endorsing Joe Biden, so now all of his future posts have been colored by it.
@Captain Correction, I hate Mexicans. Especially the ones that come here and take our jobs and have a bunch of children whether you want them or not. At least they make good food.
If this offends you, that is your post, but with the nationality switched around.
@Captain Correction, none of us care, take it easy.
@LookOutASni, oh I see! Yeah I think they could keep their political views to themselves. I definitely see the frustration with that seeing as the audience they can reach and influence.
Yeah I agree with the rock, get out there and vote Republican
Anyone notice how toxic this community gets during voting season. Ive literally started skipping over memes tht could be considered political. I dont come here to see the same ppl saying trump is a nazi and the same ppl saying biden is an idiot. My 2 cents
