On a serious note: they did it in a way that actually would be a best model situation. IF And I mean IF everyone wore masks then this study would be accurate. What they don’t look at is getting to the plane, that in my view is the dangerous part
@aang72, when I’ve flown the airports have been REALLY good about maintaining distance during the boarding process. The airlines that I’ve used have also made it mandatory to wear masks, otherwise you’re removed without a refund
I saw a Lotto commercial today featuring a supposed winner who was talking about how you CAN win, and how everyone says there’s no chance, but you can do it, and it had pretty much the exact same tone as this.
Anything that they don't want to increase the risk doesn't. Being in a classroom is dangerous, but being smooshed right up against someone at a protest is perfectly fine with or without a mask, because rona apparently doesn't infect people on the left expressing their upset.
@jouze, You must not have followed the news over the past few months if you think this is a strawman. The media keeps claiming that the spikes in areas with protests aren't actually caused by the protests.
@Papyru, do not bring up classrooms unless you’ve actually *taught* in an overcrowded classroom please. State exemptions up to 43 crotch goblins in a poorly ventilated room. No. Just don’t.
@SchroedingerPussPuss, Lmao I'm going to school to teach high school. Unless you're old af or live with your grandparents you don't really have anything to worry about
@Papyru, tell that to my mom's 35 yr old doctor coworker who was trying to run an ultra-marathon. Well, to his headstone anyway. Or all of the other 18-40 yr olds who have died from it.
@mas2de, anecdotal evidence means nothing. There's such an astronomical chance of that happening that it's not worth changing your life over. Do you do all this stuff every flu season? Because a young person is more likely to die of the flu.
@HSA, that doesnt stop me from coughing in your face, or touching my mask then a surface then you touching that surface and then your eyes. Really all that does is prevent the compartment from becoming a miasma full of covid.
@CocoasBro, In addition to taking in fresh air (usually through the engines) as HSA mentioned, inside air is constantly recycled through HEPA filters.
Still won't protect you from being too close to someone else though as the air still moves around before being sucked into the ventilation system.
@CocoasBro, I trust this report 1. About as far as I trust the CEO of Shell on Fox Business saying that not fracking is 100% bad while the Saudi's develop renewable tech to sell when the oil stops being as necessary. Or 2. About as far as I can throw the plane they did this on.
@CocoasBro, my thoughts exactly, unless the mannequin got really lucky and nobody moved, touched, looked or breathes around it. Clearly something is confusing
This is so weird, I can only imagine it’s all a ruse to get us traveling again because the airlines need money(so does the government). COVID is non existent in airplanes but hazardous when in a room full of people on ground...
