Even paradise is a prison if you can't leave.
@Paulywolly, even prison can be a paradise with the right perspective.
@Empshok, In the right perspective Hitler was justified in killing all those jews.
@Paulywolly, but why would you want to leave paradise?
@Albatraous, I'd like to know I'm there by my own choice. That I could leave, if the inclination hit me. What if it stops being paradise?
@Empshok, yeah I actually enjoyed jail more than some moments in my life.
As someone who likes to stay inside most of the time, I still would like to have the freedom to go about my business if I want. If that puts me at risk of getting sick, so fvckin be it. As the late Ben Franklin said: "Anyone who surrenders freedom for security doesn't deserve either."
@owanobi, but it's not just about you getting sick, it spreading it to others who have to go out
@Albatraous, the others going outside are making a choice to go outside, they are also putting themselves and others at risk. If you don't want to get sick or can't get sick then stay home. Everyone shouldn't have to suffer for the 1% that are at risk.
@owanobi, those who have to work aren't making that choice.
@Albatraous, they are making that choice. Nobody is making them have that particular job. They can quit if they feel unsafe.
@Doctor Yak, so everyone working as a carer, in a shop, delivery driver, doctor, nurse, police officer should all stop working? They are essential jobs and cannot simplynot work.
@Albatraous, they could quit. Someone else who is willing to take the risk would take their place. There is nothing compelling anyone to work any particular job.
@Doctor Yak, but then that shifts it to another person. The number of people still out is the same. Not everyone wants to quit their jobs and go on the DOLE. Many of us have bills to pay.
@Albatraous, well, then they have to consider whether the risk of covid is worth that paycheck. If it isn't, then they can quit. If it is, then they can take appropriate precautions as an individual, but we shouldn't all have to change to accommodate the minority.
We are like hipsters, we were social distancing before it was cool 😎
That's the poibt. We should all be changing to help those that are vulnerable. While it is a minority, it's still a significant number of people that have been killed already. But I guess in your view anyone who doesn't want to get the virus should quit, so we have no doctirs, nurses or police and become homeless instead.
@Albatraous, nah. Some people are willing to risk exposure to covid, so not everyone would be quitting.
