Michigan bars were throwing parties last night because the state is shutting down dine in service among other things for 3 weeks starting today. Oh boyyy.
@Bionicbonk, same here in Oregon except it’ll be for 2 weeks.
Well I mean everyone knows the ‘rona only comes out at night. Right?
@WhoseLineIsItAnyway, now I know!
EXACTLY WHY AREN'T WE FUNDING THUS
@WhoseLineIsItAnyway, I was also confused about this. Apparently the reason is that studies have shown that rules like mask wearing and social distancing tend to broken much more later in the evening than during daylight hours. In case you were curious.
I think people would be more ok with the pandemic if the mandates actually made sense. You have to wear a mask to a restaurant, but you can take it off to eat, you have to wear a mask inside, but sitting inside an enclosed space outside doesn't count. Only 15% capacity at certain places, but feel free to go to super markets and wal mart where there are literally hundreds of people. Either have us always wear a mask, or don't.
@TheSecretSavage, amen. Its just a way to control us, and we as sheep go along with it
@TheSecretSavage, 1) the first one is to appease people who will complain about not being able to eat-in and also (mainly) because if you wear a mask walking past people to get to or leave your seat then you can contaminate them, so you wear your mask, but if you're seated 6 feet away from others then there is much less of a risk of spreading 2) not sure I understand what you mean, if you mean the tent like things then they are safer because of increased air circulation (still not great though) and they are a loophole. 3) that is mostly necessity, not sure what places are at 15% but it would not be very feasible to put groceries at 15% and still be able to get everyone food. Hope that helps!
I don't think politicians want this to end. They love the money they are spending. Hospitalizations are under control (below 1% capacity) that was the huge fear in the beginning. Deaths are affecting the very old. Politicians can't just come out and say this isn't that bad open it back up because the egg on their faces would probably lead to riots.
@jmacs94, the virus does primarily affect the old, yes, but it is so unpredictable how it hits each person that it is worth being careful. Its killed healthy 20 year olds and left people with permanent damage; and its left some old people with little more than a scratchy throat. Personally, I think we are overreacting, but the "only old people" thing isn't 100 percent true, and with an unpredictable virus I would rather overreact than under react.
@jmacs94, I wish we had done like Taiwan, a little three week shut down and open back up with precautions, its basically not a thing anymore over there
@Mantis Tobaggan, I'm willing to take the risk. Life is unpredictable. When my private life is dictated to me by the government I guarantee I will not comply. Live free or don't.
@jmacs94, lol ok
@jmacs94, I take precautions around people who are afraid and the elderly. But if you want me to comply and you'll sick the government on me if I dont we have a problem.
@jmacs94, from your original comment I didnt assume you were one of the paranoid conspiracy nuts so nvm
@Mantis Tobaggan, its not a conspiracy that the government is killing Main Street.
@jmacs94, you sweet summer child, I'm 37 and have been ill with Covid Since March. My 30 year old colleague has also been ill with it from March and is now often bedbound. She ran marathons before covid and has no underlying health issues. It ain't just about the old and the deaths are very much only part of a wider story that includes organ damage, scary neurological and cardiac symptoms, and potential long term disability.
@cmariecon, sorry, they rolled a 1 on the 20 sided die. I missed the the part where I care about you or that person?
@cmariecon the only people I care about is my family, myself, and my friends. I will do my best to protect myself so that I can protect them. I can take my vitamins put on a mask around them and thats it.
@jmacs94, In other news 250,000 people have died.
@Lying Cat, Sad.
@Lying Cat, I want to know the distribution of age and bmi of these dead people.
@jmacs94, Because if they were fat and old who cares right?
@Lying Cat, https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid_weekly/index.htm
@Lying Cat, they should isolate themselves. If they don't they are rolling the 20 sided die. Some role a 1. Gg
@jmacs94, Spoken like a true sociopathic gamer.
@Lying Cat, more like a realist
@Lying Cat, I sent cdc stats 177,375 of the 223984 who died were over the age of 65.
@Lying Cat, were destroying peoples incomes and livelihoods for the old. There are no solutions only tradeoffs economics 101
@jmacs94 ah, this is where we see you are not just ignorant but angry and broken. I wish you luck. No one deserves to be so emotionally messed up they would wish ill on people who have become disabled through no fault of their own under a pandemic, so whatever you are hurting with I hope you get some rest from at some point. Take care.
@jmacs94, I'm so proud. Why should we care about other people, right? Like why bother trying to be a good person or practicing civic responsibility lmao. Empathy is only for losers! I know I definitely can't empathize with someone losing a family member due to my selfish actions.
@jmacs94, and for the record, if some asßhole like you puts my family and my health on the line because of your selfish and lazy actions then you bet your fuçking asß I will do everything in my power to stop it from happening. You protect yours and I'll protect mine from you.
You are right the lack of ability to do much about it is scary. Lots of other people are managing to deal with that fear without lashing out at others in pain. Good luck.
