Google YouTube VANCED.... I'm gonna keep saying it until everyone on this app has the option of an add-free YouTube app.
YouTube. Vanced. Google it.
@Kaywinnet, *cries in apple user*
@Toxia, I was an apple fangirl from 3 to 7 but once I changed to Samsung I never looked back. I should say my iPhone were always jailbroken though so I'm used to tweaking phones.
@Kaywinnet, been using it for a long time, I truly feel bad for people who have iPhones and don't have the options we do, that's the main reason I don't have one
@Swagnamite, I switched to android when the jailbreaks became so much of an issue you couldn't use banking apps etc lol. Never looked back
@Kaywinnet, Plasma OS, that is all
@Kaywinnet, do you want to kill Youtube? You have to ask yourself, how are they going to pay to build and maintain the servers? Every day 720,000 hours of footage is uploaded, and they don't delete the oldest ones. So, when you upload a video for free, Google can actually put a monetary value on it. How are they going to pay for it?
@Hallucinated corpse, I never used to mind ads until they became unskippable and there's so many now. Now I support the creators direct.
@Hallucinated corpse, maybe they *should* delete old videos. They're not an archive service... anyway I think people just worry about the trend of the internet becoming more like watching TV and less like the wild west.
@Kaywinnet, I love YouTube Vanced. Found it a few months ago and it's been a gamechanger. It's amazing. especially on long youtube vidoes, sometimes theres like 8 ads on a 30 min video like bruh.
@NotSpam, in the UK we have strict laws about advertising. I can barely tolerate American TV with the ads over the shows etc.
@Kaywinnet, I love you.
@18bluecat, yay I helped someone
@Kaywinnet, sure, because a company shouldn't make money for providing a service
@Albatraous, its not about them making money, its about how intrusive it is. K.agjne you were going skiing in the Alps, sounds fun right? But what if every 10 ft you had to stop so someone could tell you about the hot chocolate they sell back at the lodge. It would ruin the fun, wouldn't it?
@Hallucinated corpse, yes, we do want to kill YouTube and their terrible business practices towards small channels and Orwellian censorship towards anything they deem wrong think
@Kaywinnet, fair enough. But content creators get paid for every premium viewer so it's actually a win win win. Also, it means that content creators can create what they want, not what the ad companies want
@Hallucinated corpse, you're kidding? Okay since I mostly watch news stuff or psychology stuff on YT I guess I'm used to the dudes being "this will be demonotised"
@Kaywinnet, I know, right? I like to watch dark videos (e.g: true crime)so, I'm very familiar.
Can't blame companies for fearing association with certain content. I think this originated for some toy company or something being advertised on a dark/sexual video.
Unfortunately, at the moment, most people don't have premium so the majority of the income comes from ads (or sponsors). I was also reading that premium provides a more stable income, as ad revenue is seasonal, i.e: they pay more for the christmas period and a lot less in the first quarter of the year.
I started using YouTube premium back when it was (RED) and honestly, best $12 I spend every month. Keeping in mind I watch an absurd amount of YouTube so the ad time adds (lol) up quickly.
I also avoid anything with ads like the plague (also lol) so I don’t watch tv, don’t use radio, ect. And I do not miss it.
Somethings wrong when people can pay another company to inject themselves into your attention span, in a way you cannot ignore and cannot circumvent except in cases where you can pay for ad free service. I won’t need to see another geico ad for the rest of my life- I’ll probably remember that slogan even after I’ve forgotten the names of my grandchildren...
@orion55, it costs me a bit less than $5 out of pocket. I picked up the family option for $11 more, but it lets you add 4 other accounts. I get paid $5 from the other four accounts I have added as it’s cheaper for all of us that way
I'm keeping this in mind the next time my boss asks if I'm coming to work
