There is probably more to this story, but let's just believe what the headline says.
@Kim Jong Pun, questioning headlines is so yesterday.
@Kim Jong Pun, it's designed to withstand the electromagnetic pulse created by a nuclear explosion. If it were hit directly by the explosion, it would not do well. They are made to act as flying command centers that can direct and order the launch of nuclear missiles. But no they can't "withstand a nuclear attack." They can withstand the emp caused by a nuclear explosion.
@jayne cobb, remember folks make faraday bags yes bags by..... assasinated by an assassinating assassin*
@Cuactemoc4919, cuactemoc4919 didn’t kill themself!
@jayne cobb, to add onto this so people don’t freak out, the vast majority of military electronics (including aircraft and vehicles) are capable of surviving an emp. While it would most certainly suck for civies in this event, the military would still be operational for defense.
It's standard operating procedure to ground any plane for any bird strike so they can assess the damage done. It doesn't necessarily mean that there was any damage just so they can look and see to make sure that it's still safe to fly
It's a bird! It's a plane!
Hey I’ve seen this one before!
