Oh thank god!
IT'S FINALLY OVER?
@Ajunta Pall, *me palmface* :D
I'll be vaccinated by the end of the week. Party on, Wayne!
@KaptianKill, I get my second shot today. Yay
For MOST, the only real pandemic* was the global blight of overzealous Governments tied to the descent of fanatical Liberals into madness.
@Cave Dweller, nuanced, metered, non-partisan, and based in fact. as insightful as one would have expected you to be
@Hoban Washburne, good of you to notice. Sadly, none of these things are expected of you, and you never let down expectations.
@Cave Dweller, lol
We’ve got at least another year. February 2020 we were saying 2-3 years. Don’t hold your breath.
@I Are Lebo, I give them til June. Then I'm done
@I Are Lebo, *chambers round* I just want to talk to them...
@I Are Lebo, funny funny guy. First you get vaccinated, then you are told, still lock up and mask, not everyone's vaccinated. Next step is there a new variant, we need a new vaccine.... trust the science.... or at least the scientist the government is paying.
@werp zerp snickel, I’m just waiting for twenty years from now when we get a whole bunch of babies born with debilitating birth defects or other long term effects they had no way of predicting.
@LookOutASni, why not be done now? I’m a month past vaccination, and I’ve quit the pandemic. It’s great. According to research by scientists (not politicians) at John Hopkins University, we should be done with this by April-May, 2021.
@Who Nose, I think that’s very optimistic, but I’d be more than happy to be wrong about this.
@I Are Lebo, you’re right. I said 2023 take it or leave it. I hope I’m not right
Well, one would have to begin to end.
Pandemic is a hoax
@Craiger, your mom is a hoax
@I Are Lebo, your hoax is a mom
@BigJohnson86, your Johnson is a mom
@BigJohnson86, your hoax is a pandemic
Apparently extremely unpopular opinion: this quarantine has given me the rest, peace, leisure, and soul searching I could want. And I was paid to do it. I could do this quarantine for another year, if I’m being honest.
@whats a joke, you are a rare case, but I’m happy someone benefited.
Now I am going to try to enter this store who is still enforcing covid guidlines without my mask and scream "yOuRe iNtErfEriNg WiTh mY fReEdOmS" at anyone who tells me to put on a mask, at which point I will be kicked out, charged with trespassing, and banned for life.
@SMASHING, bro, you be dumb, understand the moderate position on things before speaking at least.
Moderate Republicans and moderate Democrats agree on personal store policies.
Wear a shirt, shoes and a mask or you can't come in.
It's the extremes that are the problem.
The moderate Republican position is that the government should not have the authority to force you to wear something.
I.e. the individual has the right to get sick(like an asshole) and die. It's their choice to risk their health.
Moderate Democrat position demands a mask mandate, since there is no assurity that somebody will wear the mask, unless it's enforced by the government.
I.e. we are all in this together, if even one person keeps this virus alive we're going to be in the collective shīt again.
Other than that I don't care if you keep trying to shît post. I'm just trying to help be less dumb.
@That one lurker, that... tha was some good stuff... that was some 69 level of “Nice”
@That one lurker, isn't it also the moderate democrat who claims "my body, my choice"? Seems like a double standard
@That one lurker, I agree with everything you said except for the term “moderate democrat”. What’s dat? Do those still exist?
@That one lurker, agreed. I’m not big into wearing masks, but if a business requires it, I do it without hesitation. If I really didn’t want to wear a mask, I’d take my business elsewhere and not make a scene. It’s that simple.
Although I wouldn’t agree someone becoming sick makes them an asshole...I’ve seen people come to this abrupt conclusion that you caught the virus because you weren’t following rules when that’s proving not to be the case (even avid mask wearers are violating CDC guidelines constantly by touching their face and mask, not washing their mask after every use, and using masks not rated to prevent the spread of the virus; they can be considered guilty of spreading as well as making themselves more vulnerable).
@fallingback09, my point was to try and bridge any gaps, to allow pro mask extremist a comfortable way to agree. If you are a Democrat then you do think of them as being assholes. So I used that as an olive branch.
@UglyNakedGuy, yes, but it's also the moderate Democrat who is hypocritical and unconsistent. But bringing that up is divisive, I'd like to pull as many of these people from the edge as possible. Telling them of their own double standard would Harden their hearts.
Only a man that has reasoned himself to position can be reasoned out of it.
@Snarfel Burger, I can tell you're not a moderate.
@That one lurker, I see what you’re saying. Apologies I misunderstood a part of that.
@Snarfel Burger, I’m a left/lib leaning independent. Does that count?
@member berry, it was a joke, I know they still exist. And no, I would not be considered a moderate by today’s rapidly leftward shifting Overton Window.
@Canis Arktos, maybe
@SMASHING, dew it
@That one lurker, Hey I didn't get notifications, so I'm seeing this a day later.
I understand that the end of the mask mandate doesn't mean stop wearing masks, it just means that the state stops telling companies that they need to mandate masks.
Unfortunately, like you said, the extremes are the problem, like the sh!tpost that I wrote out above. A few conservative-leaning friends that I've talked to don't understand this, and that masks still need to be worn whenever in public. One even believes wearing a mask infringes his freedoms and that they don't work. I'm afraid that people like him are going to make this pandemic worse. He may get sick and die, which, sure, is his choice, but that may not be the choice of the next guy who gets sick, and potentially die due to his negligence.
And while the mandate doesn't give any real-world assurances, it did make a surprising amount of people wear a mask, like the dude above.
We've all got to wear the mask, reduce our interactions with each
@SMASHING, -other, and get the vaccine when it becomes available
@SMASHING, that was a nice sentiment, and the moderate left wing talking point before we had the vaccine. Now that we've had it for 4-5 months. Some states are looking forward to reopen, getting the world back on track. The first step is to stop the mandate. It honestly was unconstitutional and infringed on people's rights. The mandates not the masks. You see packaged in these mandates was the removal of Rights like freedom of Association and the freedom to practice your Religion. Saying that the Mandate is only for masks his perspective of the extremists of the left.
As for your friend, he's right, he just doesn't understand why he is. The mask has been heavily politicized, to the point where some people wear it while jogging alone in the woods, it is a visible signifier of party affiliation. This inference feeds an in-group out-group bias of leftists to shame "anti-maskers." A pejorative that boiled down to kafar, heretic, or sinner. The reason to put things in religious context...
@That one lurker, follows a through line of their fallacy. Not all masks are created equal, many work but more don't. A specific kind of mask works, but if you touch it you'll get sick. Masks don't work because we don't know how to not touch them. A fabric Mask doesn't work, pep does, but we are getting some masks from china that have printed on the side of it but it doesn't stop covid-19. How many people have bought that specific mask believing that they are safe?
So to be clear, masks work, we don't know how to use them, so to the layman, masks don't work. There is scientific reality and then there's just reality.
In our present circumstance masks don't work.
@That one lurker, Not to mention the new CDC study showed less than a 2% decrease in daily covid cases after 40-100 days following mask mandates.
Obviously the mandates don’t work.
@Snarfel Burger, yes, I know... But try telling that to the science deniers.
