Not sure why this is on FP, but by God, this is a brilliant invention! Also the clapping made me want to shoot someone
@celtics313131, probably because it's funny how stupid and dangerous it is.
@celtics313131, I agree on the shooting part.
*Fbi looks up from table
@80think08, *throws you gun*.....
Or, you know, learn to cook.
Not to mention the safety hazard of bypassing the alarm; git gud.
@Dezz3399, this is the equivalent of turning off bitching Betty then flying into the deck.
@Dezz3399, that was my first thought if u smoke out the house everytime u cook then the alarms not your only problem
@Dezz3399, I’m in a rental and not supposed to change the hard wired smoke detectors. The one closest to the kitchen goes off while making macaroni and cheese. I definitely “didn’t” disconnect the wires to that one... some are more sensitive than others.
@Dezz3399, my cereals on fire!
@Dezz3399, I've had cheap alarms go off for a candle getting blown out.
Caramelized onions? BEEEEEP
Putting a sear on a steak? BEEEEEP
Turn on a second burner after frying bacon? BEEEEEP
@dusty44, I've seen some interviews with the voice of bitching Betty on youtube. She's super nice, but loves the nickname.
@Dezz3399, my last apartment's smoke detector went off from the steam of plain boiling water
Mine goes off if I take too long of a hot shower. Got to get my wet a$$ out and fan away the steam with a towel.
@AbolishedShadow, Mine's right outside my bathroom door and goes off for the same reason. Annoying as all hell
@Dezz3399, said by someone who has clearly never seared a steak inside. Smoke is a necessary evil of correct cooking in some cases.
@Littlechuckie, I’ve seared plenty of steak inside; it’s called an exhaust fan...
@Dezz3399, to be fair, the way it is designed, significant smoke volumes would overwhelm it pretty quickly and still set the alarm off.
Also, there are some culinary pursuits that create smoke when done properly, roasting coffee beans is one example. I typically roast my beans outside, however when the temp is 3°F I roast inside. The fire alarm goes off every time. I just wear hearing protection and suffer through the indignity, but I would love to be able to temporarily switch the smoke alarm off.
Beats waving a newspaper at it or temporarily taking the battery out, just to forget to put it back in cos your kids have quickly stuck the battery in their radio controlled car.. probably.
We don't even put smokies in the kitchen, so they don't nuisance alarm
@Petersquatch, most likely place for a fire to start is the kitchen so you might want to put one in there.
@Zorb, I’d risk the slim chance of there being a large fire in my kitchen that I’m unaware of if it meant the fire alarms in my house didn’t go off every time I opened the oven. Cheap (or poorly placed) fire alarms are the worst.
@Zorb, it's more about for when people are sleeping. If there's a fire in your kitchen, more likely than not, you started it.
@Zorb, Sure. But you’re probably gonna be the one who starts it, so there’s no need for an alarm.
Yeah, no self-respecting cook would get this. We all know this is designed for stoner college students
@Bear Force One, I know it's a joke, but this guy is pretty popular on reddit for intentionally creating stupid products. He has also created underwear made out of the same material as Crocs.
They already have smoke detector caps for when you’re doing construction work cause a lot of smoke and powder
Fire Depts love it!
Thia isnt for cooking this is for potheads
Just remove your fire alarm temporarily at that point?
This would be better marketed to stoners honestly
In prison they cover it with a plastic glove
