@I Are Lebo, I think both are true. There are certainly more entitled brats in the newer generations. Social media has a lot to do with developing that toxic mindset. At the same time the economy is much different so the people that aren't entitled pos have much harder time succeeding.

@fitizen, they were able to do that because the cost of college wasn’t being subsidized by the government. As soon as the government started to guarantee payment on certain loans the price of college skyrocketed. Just like the price of everything else the government guarantees payment for.

@ThePandaPool , older dude I used to work for, he’s in his late 60s now, told me he painted for the whole summer to pay for his tuition. Dude if I found a job that paid 40$k over the summer, I wouldn’t be going back to school...

To be fair the 1970s scenario was only if you were a white male - preferably not Irish or Italian and your base salary was $1.60. Of course you could raise a family on it, but there were different limitations then

Completely false. I’ve gotten nearly every job I’ve applied for on the spot. And I don’t even have a college degree. And they did not hire people that easily back then. They questioned you until you seemed trustworthy. There are plenty of Boomers who struggled, but they tell the stories of victory because that’s all they care to remember. Besides, anyone can go to college now. It’s not a worthy qualification anymore. People skills, and problem solving skills are the key.
