Actually eggs are chicken menstration. Unless a rooster was present the eggs aren't fertilized therefore aren't chicks. They lay eggs every 28 days, just as a girl has her period every 28 days.

@Elfman Strauss, ya pretty much. Putting it that way yes it sound repulsive but chickens constantly produce eggs and only do they become chicks if a rooster fertilizes it.
