Not to sound like a crappy fact checking website, but there’s a lot of context missing that really come into play about this statement. Satan (before being kicked to the depths of Hell) believed he deserved to be the same as God in every aspect, receive the same praise, etc. Biblically, I read this as when you think you’re entitled to something, you may make something evil of yourself to try and get it. In my opinion, the word “equality” should be “equity”, but I see where they are coming from. Bad choice of words considering what equality means in a societal sense.
@fallingback09, He tried to get God to stop watermarking his trial copy of existence.exe
@Prince super Vegeta, he was identified as malware
@fallingback09, i am also assuming phrasing was the enemy of this particular church
If they really hate the town they live in they should just move to Austin. It’s the most liberal part of Texas, and it’s basically the Portland of the South.
@Sexy Homunculus, Yeah but most small town folks are terrified of the booming homeless population here.
@Sexy Homunculus, or we could work together to make our communities less awful. Gently educate people. Enact a violent purge. Whatever floats your boat.
@dandyhandy, some one say purge?
@KermitSmash, frankly if there was a booming homeless population in the city I live in I’d be terrified of that too
@Sexy Homunculus, exploding hobos ? That is pretty terrifying
@Sexy Homunculus, I didn't care too much about it until our local government basically neutered the police with regards to managing homeless camping. Now there are parts of the city that are starting to look like skid row.
@KermitSmash, Wow. I had heard there was a growing issue with homelessness in Austin, but I didn’t know it was that rough.
@KermitSmash, North side is having a lot of camps getting set up under the freeway. Shìts getting kinda weird here man
@Sexy Homunculus, Austin is where the Atheist Experience is located. Very good non religious community.
@I Are Lebo, I know, I enjoy visiting
@DrSin, That's Kingsmen level threat.
@DrSin, have you ever gotten to speak with Matt?
I like him. Jen is real nice, too.
@DrSin, *pretty cool
@I Are Lebo, I find it weird that modern atheists try to emulate the community that a religion forms with their own lack of religion. Keep in mind I'm not religious at all, but I was raised by a preacher, I just don't get it. What do they talk about? How fervently they *don't* believe in a diety?
@DrSin, they dont explode, they just say boom very loudly and its startling
@KermitSmash, firstly, the idea that community is something invented by religion is absolutely in no way based in reality. Even religious communal gatherings are far more than people standing around talking about how fervently they believe in a deity. The atheist communities aren’t emulating the religious ones. They’re just removing the worship aspect.
Mostly it’s people gathering together, talking about personal interests, and eating. It’s about having a support structure for when times are good as well as when times are bad.
@I Are Lebo, Firstly, I never suggested that it was invented by religion. All I meant was that to an outsider looking in (and someone who grew up in religion) it seems redundant. Why not just have friends who are also atheist? Granted this was the same problem I had with the church growing up. I guess I just generally don't trust it when people congregate to bond over a belief system, that's how cults start. And riots. But I can understand wanting a like minded support group, I think it's when they start naming their groups that I get uneasy. "The Atheist Experience". Sounds like an IMAX feature. Nope, don't trust it one bit.
That's the weirdest cover of "sympathy for the devil" I've ever heard.
@ThePandaPool , we aren’t evil, their is just a angry das who makes up rules as he goes so we look like the bad guys
