Why’s everyone trying to call things out as ripoffs or better than the other? The matrix was inspired by anime but it wasn’t trying to blatantly rip it off. You can be inspired by something and not have it be a ripoff. What matters is if it offers a different experience. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t get the same experience from watching the matrix as I would in ghost in the shell. There’s no need to start demeaning the other side to justify your own. It should be about respecting them for what they bring.
@Mr Star, exactly. It’s almost like people can’t think “hey maybe this artist saw a certain movie or show and a scene from it stuck with them and wanted to recreate it their own film” it’s almost like inspiration isn’t a thing
@Mr Star, it's kimba the white lion all over again.
@Mr Star, I mean the post doesn’t really say either side did it better they’re just next to each other I like things like this cause it allows us to form our own opinions and see the same actions from different perspectives or art forms in this case
@FearTamer, I get that, but what upsets me is the people in this comment section fighting each other and acting like one is stealing from the other instead of respecting the concept of inspiration and paying homage to other works.
Now do one for the all of the scenes, plot lines, and character types stolen from old swordsman movies by western films
@SirLoveday, nobody has the time to go over every single one
@Pvt BB Ghanoush, *cracks knuckles* watch me
Christopher Nolan did say he was heavily inspired by Paprika when he was writing Inception
The Wachowskis are big anime fans too, and even the Animatrix was done in anime style
I think this is why people hate anime it reminds them that their fave movies are just knockoffs of something better
@gokiser, really?? I’ve never heard that argument as to why some people don’t enjoy anime. Sounds like you’re reaching to me
Wait, are you just now figuring this out?
Well, anime style was originally inspired by Mickey Mouse, so I guess it's only fair...
All anime is just a rip off of old disney cartoons, so this is irrelevant. Also Japan lost the war so anything they do is invalid. Fight me, weebs!
Can't believe these animes ripped of movies in the future like that.
The best artists steal
Darren Aronofsky is the tits. My favorite film by him is Pi
