That's a no from me dawg.
I drop my phone a ton of times. If it had a hinge or a week point like that I feel like it'd break in just a week or two.
@Mhael, as an engineer can confirm we 100% think of that and don’t argue about whether or not adding racing stripes to a phone would make it faster
@Mhael, that hinge is the last thing you need to worry about, it's sturdy as shjt. Now the delicate, soft, plastic screen is what you want to be talking about...
@Jipz, the screen is actually pretty solid. Little crease at the fold point that you can't even see in normal usage, and when the phone is closed it is completely protected from impact so...?
@rescue dog driver, I work for carphone warehouse here in the UK, I used the demo fold 2 for a few days to just see what it was like to have one as a daily phone, and the phone itself is much more ruggid than I thought it was/going to be, but that screen was still an issue with some things. As an example, I played some fruit ninja to see what the phone would be like, and the screen doesn't glide as nicely as a glass screen (although this is greatly improved on the fold 3), and it was very difficult to not mark the screen doing the quick swipes, but besides that, for everything else the phone was brilliant. You cannot see the crease when looking at it head on, and you forget about the crease because you don't really feel it either. Overall, I'm more impressed with the device after having used it for a couple of days than just having an opinion on it.
Don’t worry, nobody’s buying this
@heybruh, I am
@heybruh, it’s a novelty at best
@heybruh, I work for a telecom provider in Canada and people are absolutely buying it
@heybruh, my guess is that they’re running out of ways to innovate or justifying people buying new stupid phones so now they gotta go gimmick mode
@Soser5, nice guess, but it is actually a solid phone. While I admit I've only had it for a month, and it is not the phone I was originally going to get, I am glad I did. Screen is totally protected from impact damage when closed, and that is a major reason why I got it.
Not to mention the satisfaction of just slapping the phone shut to hang up on someone is a bit nostalgic for us old fvcks lol
they already sell cases for this phone there's loads
Couldn't it just be a two piece design that has a gap in the middle for the fold?
@CrazyRightWinger, yes or just a two shot mold with a flexible material where the hinge is. This isn't a terribly hard problem to fix, but they will need to spend more money to tool it up
I don't have the zflip, I got the z fold 3 instead, but honestly case manufacturers already have different types out for the foldables. Some have a piece that goes over the hinge others keep it open, I honestly have bought a hinge exposed kind of case for the look of it
@sneskid, I have the Z Fold and my case is just two parts, and the hinge exposed with the Samsung Logo. I love it!
great phone so far, my guess on the negative comments from this meme are from 🍎 lovers or people that haven't actually checked it out personally. 💁♂️
@rescue dog driver, highly likely. I even have a friend who when I told him I got the phone just said "that's cool but I'll wait till Apple makes one"
Thanks, I hate it
Looks to me like it could have a pretty neat case if someone was jus creative enough
@Factory BOY, I'd like one that makes it look like a GameBoy Advanced SP, I've honestly wanted this phone just to use for emulating the GameBoy (which my current phone obviously can too, but its not the same without the clamshell)
If anyone could make cases for the GBA SP, then they can do it for the phone.
Designing a foldable case- Start with a wallet....
Z flip 3 with Spigen tough armor case. Surprised how overall sturdy/tough this phone has been
Making a foldable case shouldn't be that hard... it's the durability that's the issue
