@I Are Lebo, I never understood why he chose that either. He seems like the kind of guy to let his candle flicker out when it was ready. But honestly, that's just one small part of the series that also makes no sense. However, I do REALLY like season 3. In my eyes, it had the best villain, best fighting and choreography, and best overall story arc of the series. Unfortunately, you HAVE to watch season 2 to understand it.

@sir killjoy, I agree. Right up until the attack on Air Temple Island, I was on Zaheer’s side. Unfortunately, his potential was squandered by the same issue that plagued all of Legend of Korra: bad writing and lack of long term planning. Ultimately, he was an anarchist that failed to recognize that Anarchy is not a viable system, long term. An Anarchy lasts until a charismatic tyrant can take control, and no farther, and this was even demonstrated in the show with Kuvira. If Zaheer saw any success in his plans, someone like Kuvira would become inevitable.
