@seeUpee, i can sympathize on some level with those kids because I would just go hide in a corner during my dads side family reunions. I didn’t know anyone outside of his immediate family so it was really awkward being ambushed by people who were basically strangers to me. If anything, kids on tablets are basically an evolution of what I did

What about the parents who don’t let their kids socialize with anyone, outside of school? And their only social interactions are family gatherings? And you don’t relate to anyone in your family/extended? The kid would only know that. I know that cuz I’m that kid. Thankfully college helped gain some of that missed interactions.
They aren't socially awkward because of the computer games / ipads. They were socially awkward first through any number of things on the spectrum, and the computer tablets make them feel at ease. It's like the old saying about judging a fish by its ability to climb a tree. We are all different, and differences are what is needed for a society. People can't and won't be just like you because you want it that way. Celebrate the differences and learn something from those you think have nothing to offer.
