@LyricTerror, for most items, but especially electronics, they just sell an inferior brand that is cheaper. They can also use a "sale" sign marked at the original price...my biggest regret so far was being the employee who did black friday prep at a target. My second biggest regret so far was applying to retail.

I remember hearing that stores will slowly raise prices a month in advance just to slash them to the original price on Black Friday. Not sure how true that is
