Almost everyone I know has it, including my 9 month old niece. Either has had it, currently has it, or is taking extreme measures to avoid it. It killed my grandmother. It’s everywhere and it’s no joke.
@Fairy Squad Mother, I do think this meme is still funny, though I am very sorry for your loss and that is no laughing matter
@Fairy Squad Mother, LOL
@Fairy Squad Mother, I had it, my wife got it about a week after I tested positive. We're not sure if our infant daughter ever got it because she didn't show any symptoms
@FearTamer, thank you, I appreciate that
@The real meowman, thankfully my niece has a mild case. It’s presenting cold/flu symptoms for her, but her whole household has it so we know she’s got it too.
@Fairy Squad Mother, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm currently still getting over it, going on week 3 now, and it blew my mind the toll it's taken on my healthy, vaxxed, young body. It's made me so angry how some people completely disregard covid and act like it doesn't exist
@Fairy Squad Mother, Sorry to hear you lost your grandmother to it. My grandmother died in Michigan while they were not taking care of people properly, because of the Vid.
It's not a joke, but we also can't blow it out of proportion. The elder are susceptible to it, but the rest of us really are not. Aside from overweight, diabetics.
Don't fear it so much, when it kills less than 1% of the time.
@thatoneguymaybe, I’m sorry to hear about your loss, it sounds like we are in a similar situation. I’m not scared per say, just very cautious
@Fairy Squad Mother, I appreciate it.
I understand being cautious, that's how we all were in the beginning, when we knew nothing.
Alpha and Delta were serious. Omicron is not. Everyone is getting omicron now, and almost no one is being hospitalized.
I have somehow managed to not catch any variant yet. I have cousins who have and an aunt who almost died from it. She was not vaccinated and had underlying conditions that made it worse.
@RogueKnight, simply incorrect. Omnicron is less dangerous per person, but it infects 3 times as many people, and is shutting down critical systems. It's the most dangerous variant to society yet.
@KingofFunnypics, this. Omnicron is much less dangerous for "you" as an individual, but its wild transmissibility is shutting down workplaces. Got 32 positives at the retirement community where i work over the course of two days.
@Doctor Walrus, That’s the main reason they need to stop testing asymptomatic people.
@Laugh Dammit, or consider, the more positive tests, the more its proven to not be as harmful....
@phalcon , Yes, but when people test positive they’re forced to quarantine (for 5 days now). Sometimes these tests aren’t even accurate. We can’t carry on like this. We’re shutting down our work forces when people AREN’T sick. It’s ridiculous. We’re two years into this and people still think the virus is the only issue that really matters.
@KingofFunnypics, *accidental submit*
@KingofFunnypics, The only reason it is shutting anything down is because the government is telling us to. that's it. where I work we just had 100 people test positive over the weekend. 90% we're asymptomatic or had symptoms like a runny nose or a cough. yet they had to stay home. A vast majority of the people with Omicron end up with symptoms no worse than a common cold. No one is dying from omicron. Very few even need to be hospitalized. At this point, if you are terrified of omicron the way you were with delta and alpha, you're just listening to the government fear mongering and nothing more. Even CDCs stats support what I said. As do a vast majority of scientists throughout the world.
Those who say different typically are government officials or scientists or work for the vaccine companies.
@KingofFunnypics, I guess what I'm saying is it doesn't matter how many people it infects when the symptoms are so minor. People wouldn't be staying home from work anyway If it were called something other than COVID. But because it is called COVID and because the government can never let a good crisis go to waste, everything ends up getting shut down. The only reason it is "shutting down critical systems" isn't because people are dying and are unable to work. It is because other human beings are saying they need to stay home.
When a vast majority of people who get Omicron don't even know they have it until they take a mandatory weekly test or whatever, then it's time for the government to let it go and let life return to normal. This is how viruses mutate. We have data on this. This is exactly what's supposed to happen and when it is supposed to happen. At this point it's just government's not being able to let go of the extra power and control.
@Doctor Walrus, If all it does is infect people, that's the best case scenario to reach immunity. This is what you want with a virus! Don't shut down anything over the sniffles, and we should be fine.
I'm sure they'll all be fine
Way too@many people I know who died from Covid AFTER they got the vaccine.
@Unitard, Far too many did. Based off of the data I have seen, and even anecdotal, it seems the Vax makes you more likely to catch it.
It definitely doesn't prevent it at all. Unlike NI, which does.
I thought R Kelly was talking about herpes anyway!
This comment section right here officer. 🤣
