Well if this isn’t the most accurate thing I’ve ever seen
@brooksy20, it truly brought tears of joy to my eyes
As someone who got a degree in political science international relations, this is very accurate and hilarious. The UN is what happens when you create an institution with expectations that are stupidly higher than its power.
Sidenote: I actually really like the idea of the UN as a concept. But if you really want an international agency to preserve peace and world order, you gotta give it some teeth (at a minimum, a fully independent standing army and the authority to override national law of member states - not that this would ever happen). As it stands, it’s a quarter measure (not even a half measure) pretending to be a full measure. So now it just acts as a means for the US and other four security council nations to jerk themselves off.
@Scuzzinator, The real problem is allowing countries with evil leaders to join!
Just like the Democratic Republic process used to, you must have checks and balances on the content and characters of who you allow to uphold certain positions. Not saying “you are literal communists. Banned” and similar reasons is the main flaw of the UN, and any other organization that allows morally abhorrent people to have a platform.
On another note, I believe all degrees that don’t actually qualify you for something are worthless. Unless I’m wrong and there are jobs that you can’t get without a PolySci (what I see as intelligent indoctrination), it seems like we should discourage people from wasting their money.
@Child Slapper, in my case, my poli sci degree was just a path to law school, which was definitely not worthless. You do you though.
@Child Slapper, any subjects are pretty meaningless if you dont know what you want to do after university - and having two routes to the same job doesn't make one route meaningless.
Having said that, anyone who studied humanities without direction probably suffered, yet in South Africa, where I live, we rely on the White Paper on families for example, compiled by qualififed sociologists who had to study to know. This paper is what the government uses for social welfare, among other things. Our very society relies on the humanities to continue development, albeit indirectly.
I don't deny that there are also many stupid academics stuck in a pyramid scheme of education, but once you know what information you seek, University becomes a fast forward in attaining valuable information and in recognition by others of your knowledge
@Scuzzinator, you know what we should do then? Start our own UN. But with blackjack and hookers. You know what? Forget the UN
@Scuzzinator, fair enough! Thanks for clearing that up!
@BigJohnson86, and forget the blackjack, too…..
@Scuzzinator, welcome to president Woodrow Wilson's world view.
The worst prez in American history.
@Child Slapper, and they say the Republic is dead. People can come together and agree that communists are morally abhorrent people.
And if you'd allow and include, an agreement of the extremist ideologies that form communism as we currently know today.
Dating back to Marx's corruption of the concept of socialism taken from the root ideology of Rousseau.
If we can agree that the world needs to condemn Rousseau's work as morally abhorrent. And that it is a common good to destroy his ideologies.
Socialism, Communism, Nazism, Fascism, Marxism.
Then I believe the world may know peace.
@That one lurker, I agree with everything except the last sentence. “As long as there are 2 or more humans, there will always be fighting, yet a common enemy is enough to encourage people to fight together.”
@Child Slapper, I may have not been clear.
I ment peace from those "people".
They are rather loud bunch, yet they don't say anything.
We'd celebrate for a couple of years and I need it back to serious fighting, over things that matter.
The UN is a joke. I hated the US presidents that kowtowed to a corrupt organization that does nothing but suck up money.
@PassengerPenguin, Federal Reserve???
My favorite part of it, is if one of the big 5 (US, France, UK, China, or Russia) votes against something, it’s immediately tossed out.
Russia invades Ukraine, UN votes to condemn the invasion, Russia votes against, UN can’t condemn the invasion.
I thought this was an IT Crowd commercial bit at first
@heybruh, YOU WOULDN’T STEAL A BABY!!!
Is that an upside down calculator?
This is brilliant
Relying on the UN is dumb. They’re meant to be slow. Alls it takes is one countries leader sacking up and ordering troops in and now the rest follow. Or if everyone in the thoughts and prayers brigade picked up a rifle and marched or at least hired the giant private security companies to do mass evacuations/incursions that would work too.
All 3 men were left handed lol
i wanna be in the united nations security council. it’ll be sucha good resume builder!
