Staged? Set-up? Irrelevant.
Rock should* have doubled down and pressed charges (of course, he wouldn’t) against Smith for being weak. Oscar staff should have, at the very least, secured Smith.
The plot of violence against undesired speech is not subtle and is likely intended to encourage more of it.
@Cave Dweller, I saw a clip of it today and it was just kind of gross how he looked at the camera and said "Will Smith just punched the sh!t out of me" like "oh guys WILL SMITH hit me. A celebrity! He hit me, another celebrity!" Just really felt like he was fishing for potential attention by presenting the drama nice and neatly for others to see
@BrenadryI, dude, he was in shock that some dude actually hit him for a joke while he was on stage, he wasn’t fishing for attention, he was reacting like a human
@BrenadryI, if it were a set up I definitely feel like Chris Rock would have retaliated for maximum drama and attention, not played it off like he did. He is a professional comedian so I would guess he's had to deal with this from time to time, but shocked that it happened at the Oscar's in front of everyone.
Imo Smith is severely disturbed because of Jada, we can sort of see this when he was laughing at the joke, but then got mad when he noticed his wife was mad. I'm assuming he is in the "I have to prove I'm man enough for her!" Mentality after her affair, but I digress.
I don't think it was a set up, I think Rock made a joke, and a mentally unstable Smith reacted in a bad way. As I said, if it were a set up Rock probably would have acted differently, not in pure shock and disbelief.
@The nOly One, if it was about attention Rock probably would have doubled down or retaliated imo.
@Mantis Tobaggan, fair. Maybe I'm just looking too much into his reaction
@BrenadryI, I'd say so, but it did looked fake.
@Cave Dweller, dude, that's a terrifying thought. That it would justify violence in retaliation to "hate speech" in many people's minds
@meageek, eh not really and realistically probably not anywhere close to happening. Just a random thought popped into his head.
@Cave Dweller, yup I'm sure a dude who slapped a guy for hurting his fragile ego is actually an illuminanti plot to cause violence across America. Your life must be miserable looking at everything like this.
@Lying Cat, I dunno man, if this weren't broadcasted internationally I'd totally agree with you. Even if it wasn't a setup, it shows that Will is pro "violence against unwanted speech" personally, and will justify many other people's viewpoints.
@BrenadryI, I have a half theory that Chris maybe done got with Jada, and so Will Smith does not want Chris even mentioning his wife. Maybe, alternatively, Will actually just that insecure right now, which would make sense considering his crazy bxtch of a wife. It would explain some of Chris' reaction though.
@The nOly One, “best moment in history of Oscar’s” yeah Chris rock is a great actor. And the Oscars ratings are in the toilet. You could also see that Smith was faking rage. He couldn’t even pretend to be serious.
@Child Slapper, Though Smith does seem to be faking something there, some of that rage did appear genuine… but at what, one wonders. I have a feeling his little outburst will ultimately do more harm to Jada and his family than whatever help he intended.
At least the world will be entertained by Will Smith again?
@Cave Dweller, eyes donts like guat jer thaying dare , put em up 🥊🥊
@Lying Cat, why would a lying cat want me to think its not a conspiracy?🤔
@Cave Dweller, probably the last time Chris Rock had Jada’s name in his mouth was when he was cucking Smith while slapping her head like he was playing the bongos!
@Cuactemoc4919, that’s the important bit. In this case, the rest of it is pretty much noise.
@Child Slapper, that IS a rumor circling around with some suggesting it was the reason Chris stayed mum.
