@Gamasennin, agreed, I used to be a hamplant, and then decided one morning I wanted to not die in my 20s and maybe have a girlfriend. Started losing weight and have kept it off for 20 something years. Totally agree about eating trash and feeling like trash. However, my argument to Evolutionary Biologists. Why havent I evolved to hate chocolate cake and french fries, knowing they are killing me and why havent I evolved to like lettuce and cauliflower, bc I know those will sustain my life and further my F1 progeny

I'm at the end of week 2 of this new diet I started. It's not too bad so far. Essentially I eat snacks (or "fuelings") every 2-3 hours, but they are healthier snacks. Health bars, berries, eggs for protein, etc. I eat 2 lean meals, usually just breakfast and dinner. I minimize sugar. The only thing I can think of that I've been eating that has any sugar in it is the occasional yogurt. First week I only lost 2.5 pounds, which is a little discouraging. I weigh myself tomorrow, and I feel like I haven't lost any weight this past week. With this heatwave, it makes going outside for walks damn near unbearable. So the weight loss has been very slow.
Is it though? I used to eat fast food all the time. I decided to stop drinking pop, and I couldn't eat most of it anymore. Turns out that if you don't have caffeinated sugar water to pick you back up, you feel like crap after eating it. I still eat at some of the more 'quality' fast food places, but I endedup stopping at McDick's and it didn't even taste good. They actually mess with what's in their food to trigger a chemical response in your brain because we're still wired like hunter gatherers. If you eat it more than just on occasion, you can actually become addicted to it. I would imagine that a lot if the quick 'snack' foods do the same, and it's all loaded with calories. I bought a rice cooker. I make a cup of rice and mix in a can of chili. In conjunction with a protein shake, it puts me at ~1,500 calories, and is typically all I'll have for the day because the rice is so filling. Combine that with walking a mile when I wake up, and I'm losing weight at a decent pace.
