I'm 2 tired to continue watching this fight
@TurtleBlink, what a flat delivery of that *worn* out joke.
Anakin: It's been a Goodyear, master, but it's time for you to die!
Obi Wan: It's over Anakin! I have the high ground, and watch out for that Firestone!
@TurtleBlink, it’s all tied up, this is the rubber match
Still better than Rings of Power and Disney Star Wars
@Doctor Yak, is rings of power as bad as everyone says? I assume it is.
@An Average Australian, I’m about to start it, but I’ve heard fantastic things so far.
@Fierce Deity Link, only negatives I’ve heard have been from overly toxic fandoms as usual:
It’s the case with every damn fandom nowadays “oh they arent making this show EXACTLY how I would so it’s bad”
Ppl are mad that Rings of Power isn’t following Tolkiens work to the letter when Amazon decided to make a show about the Second Age, which Tolkien has written only appendices for lol
They picked an era with the most amount of creative freedom and least amount of established lore to contradict.
@An Average Australian, by episode 3 i had fully suspended it had anything to do with tolkein. By the end of episode 4 here, i may be done. I feel myself rooting for the bad guys. The script writing is terrible and meant to turn every episode into a political allegory of American issues (episode 4 was the elves are gonna take our jobs which is ridiculous). And the show is filled with nothing but contradictions becaise the show writers are incapable of writing ways for things to happen (releasing somebody after the capture them for no reason/going along with someone after they threaten to kill you just cuz the conversation changed a little...). It is pretty though, but id say its not worth watching even if you arent a tolkein fan.
@Fierce Deity Link, hey man, firstly he wrote a lot about the second age in the silmarillion and unfinished tales that were compiled by his son christopher in addition to the appendices. Amazon didnt get the rights to this, but that doesn't make these works less canonical. Secondly what good things have you heard? The writing, poor character development, and contradictions of plot in the show itself are glaring and that has nothing to do with tolkein. Theyre 4 hours in and the biggest complaint by huge fans and new show watchers alike is how insufferable the main character is and how boring the show is. PJ in 3 hours developed, introduced characters, and had a whole film whereas in this you know almost nothing about many characters so theres no reason to be attached to them.
@Jdasher5744, you convinced me to watch it without considering lore, and I'm happy to say that the show is a complete dumpster fire on its own merits.
@Doctor Yak, lmao, how many hours of your life have you donated that you wont get back. I really wish i didnt mislead you, but I also wish I could get those 4 hours back.
@Jdasher5744, lol. I've watched through the 4 that are out. The best thing about the last episode was there was no harfoot time. It really has been a big waste of time. The best it ever gets is mediocre, and even then it's only that good for a line or two per episode, and the show is quick to remind me it's not even ok, they just got lucky for a second. Someone always has to say or do something stupid that makes me ask either why or how, and the show does not want to answer those questions. Everyone is stupid because the plot is stupid and relies on everyone making obviously poor choices. "Oh no, there's orcs around, so now the whole village needs to pack up and leave." *next episode* "we have no food, so some kids are gonna go back to the village and grab our food" excuse me, but why didn't you grab that food before you left? You weren't in a rush or under attack at the time. Just stupid for plot convenience. And that is how stuff is in every episode.
@Fierce Deity Link, it really annoys me when people spout off the "it's just toxic/racist fans that criticize it" nonsense, because either you're only paying attention to the stuff Amazon wants you to, or you're repeating what you've heard others say without looking at the criticism yourself.
I know we have very low standards in this country for what makes a good show, but this show is poorly written. It does look nice sometimes, I'll give it that, but good visuals do not make a good story. The characters are almost all unlikable, there is obvious allegory (which is counter to what Tolkein wanted his stories to be), the plot relies almost entirely on stupidity and conveniences, things often happen without any real explanation, and, most importantly, it's boring. Every episode is a slog, and a frustrating one at that if your brain is functioning while watching it.
@Doctor Yak, the only positive i can say is the show has made me laugh on more than one occassion. Galadriel with the guards, the dive into the bushes by the kid, and Tar-Palantir abruptly opening his eyes for no reason got full chuckles and thats just ep4. And this is the action that actually happens on screen. So many more exciting things arent even in the show or happen off screen. For instance id love to know how 4 elves were captured by orcs. If they were to take this rename it, and make it a fantasy parody show like a live action vox machina/monty python they might get me back as a viewer. I think tolkein would write a new book from the grave before amazon does that though.
Not sufficient representation to be Amazon.
Is this Wheel of Time season 2? Looks like an improvement
They should’ve made THAT movie.
Looks like the rolling bots that can put up the force fields
This must be from episode 2-3 or 7,8 or 9. I haven't seen any of those as the first to come out were pretty good, but then I saw episode 1 and knew there was no point watching the rest.
