@Steven Noodler, Bikini Bottom is actually based on the Bikini Atoll, a nuclear test site where the wildlife has gone through some evalutionary changes
@Pakamper, But this is along the ocean floor, meaning that freshwater would flow on top of it rather than underneath it. This is more likely to be a difference in temperature or other solutes, giving the water a darker milky appearance, between the two waters.
@Pakamper, it's actually a mixture of saltwater and hydrogen sulfide. The rivers and lakes form because the density is so high it forms a distinct separation. The lakes even have waves!
@Pakamper, But wouldn't the salt dissapate? If solvent, in the form of freshwater is present, wouldn't the salt solute be dissolved throughout the water? (I'm not questioning your reasoning, I'm just curious because it contradicts what I thought would happen)
@Pakamper, actually, it's a briny mix of salt water and hydrogen sulfide. It's much denser, so it forms a distinct separation, and acts and flows like a river. Mostly found in warm climates.
Wait, so Goo Lagoon was real?! All that time I spent making fun of a beach underwater, and I'm the fool? My God! I'm so moist right now after learning this!
Last time I said this when a picture questioned spongebob's logic about an underwater beach I got a sh*t ton of downvotes. Thanks for that, guys. What a great community we have.
So Spongebob IS based on some logic!
