@lliktsum, continents are large land masses, Oceania is not even a land mass it is a collection of islands. I suggest you get an education. Who decided to make it 5? The UN? Some other country? Common sense shows 7 large land masses, which are classified as continents. Go to infoplease.com and look up the continents. Scientists do not recognize oceania as a continent. There are 5 ways to view continents....4 continents (afro-eurasia, America, Antartica, Australia), 5 continents (Africa, Eurasia, America, Antartica, Australia), 6 continent (Africa, Europe, Asia, America, Antartica, Australia), 6 (Africa, Eurasia, North America, South America, Antartica, Australia), and the 7....while you are partially right, most nations, the more powerful ones use the 7...spanish speaking use 6...Olympics use 5...use wikipedia too if you want...you have nothing on me
-
@lliktsum, It is in our name, United States of America, our country was made to encompass and welcome all cultures. America is the melting pot of the world, we were called Americans because we cast off the identities of our ancestors or old home countries (if you immigrate) and become one people, We are also the first functioning government built here, the Indians were not well functioning if you wanted to bring that up. We are Americans, both from our continental identity and our national identity. We have been called Americans by Britain, France, all other countries, and then ourselves since our founding. We used to go by our state, but the Constitution united us. To be an American is to be part of a nation of a blended identity where the people rule the government and people are not entitled but work hard for what they want. There are also multiple united states, we use American to show we are the USA....Mexico is the united States of mexico....the United States of America
-
@lliktsum, the USA is not a "proper" name, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Peru are considered proper names....so the USA gets American....when refering to anyone from north america the term north americans is used and for the south, south americans...Our states, during our confederate time, where the proper names but then thay all united even more under the constitution....so people can say Marylander or Maryland American to say they are from the state of Maryland in the USA.....ran out of room had to continue with this smaller post
-
@lliktsum, Mexico's official name, last time i checked, is the United States of Mexico...but there was legislation to just be Mexico, i dont know if it passed their government or not. I call England...England. But it is also called Great Britain and te United Kingdom in reference to the multiple territory locations. But technically England is part of Europe and a partial member of the EU. It is not being ignorant if you use facts. England and the USA are 2 of the most multi-cultural countries in the world, but they are vastly different in the organization of government. Say what you want but i have facts.
-
@AmericanPatriot17, I just love love love the way you're blasting these dudes apart respectfully and probably with a smile on your face with cold hard facts, while they throw their, "I know it's true, I read it in a book, or my Buddy showed me" ideas and self knowledge!! Love it when someone gets shut up after trashing another for no reason! Thank you as I couldn't have done it as much as I wanted lol, not enough facts to open my blabber lol!!
-
@lliktsum, why would you want to call us then, if not Americans? "United States of Americans"? There really isn't another name that correlates with our country. And as to your "'Murica, eagles 'n' sh!t, and freedom" problem, we say that as a joke. In fact, we say that to poke fun of some of the lesser educated people in our country, but I also don't see a problem with loving your country. I'm sure you love your's and you should! Freedom is just kind of our whole deal, that's why we became a country, for "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" I'm sorry if you don't agree with me, and I can kind of understand where you're coming from, but keep in mind this is a funny pictures app so most of the comments will be jokes.
-
@lliktsum, Scotland, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland are the territory that the UK consists of. Also we dont believe we are the only country that offers and represents freedom. We are proud to be American. Our country was founded for freedom that was the reason the United States started as colonies, to escape england and the crown, to live how the person wants, individual responsibility. This nation was not founded for the primary reason of money like the spanish and portugese colonies, nor to just block off enemies and provide a safety cusion like the french.
-
@lliktsum, 5 CONTINENTS?! 5?! THERE ARE SEVEN!!! YOU MUST BE STRAIGHT UP RETARDED TO GO AND CALL SOMEONE STUPID AND THEN SAY THERE ARE 5 CONTINENTS. Capitals added to show you are in fact retarded. Also, the USA is the only place in NORTH, North America (being as though there is a south and north), that goes by the name America as well. You are an idiot.
-
@lliktsum, why do people always assume every American is some foreign country hating son of a bit*h? God that pisses me off. I get that there are people here who in America(and I guess according to some people that just saying America refers to over 10 countries spread over two continents so I mean the United States of America) just disrespect other countries but something people fail to realize is more of us love the rest of the world. I know millions of Americans love British television, literature, and sports especially. And I for one respect the fact the Britain has been behind our backs for most of the major wars in the past 100 years including the war on the Taliban in Afghanistan. So please before you go telling everyone the terrors of our country that helps the world as much as we can and fights wars for those who can't fight for themselves(WWI and WWII During the European campaign, the Korean War the Vietnam war the gulf war and the effort against the Taliban in
-
@lliktsum, Afghanistan where we and the British train the army there so they can fight for themselves) and I know many Americans who including myself that would gladly lay down his life for his brothers in Britain because I know the British would do the same. Sorry for the long post, but this needed to be said
-
@Blade546, pff obviously I know how it works. You are the person that can't understand. USA is one country inside one continent, North America. Not only you live inside that country, Canadians too. But most of you (people from Unkted States)thinks that USA are the only country in the whole Milky Way. (The Milky Way is the galaxy where is the Solar System, where is the earth planet, where is North America where is your cointry and another MORE)
-
@lliktsum, you keep going on about how Americans are ignorant however you are so blind you fail to how ignorant you are being. You throw a whole country into a stereotype when, like said before, we say those things to poke fun of and joke around. I don't expect you to really know what you are talking about since you are probably an eight year old who is trying to sound smart. Just stay in school so you actually learn something.
-
@Baller on a Budget, I'm 28 years old, I live in another country, too far from US and my language is not english. At least I can comunicate with all of you, in your language, and know more of your country that most of you. I can be so expresive that I wish because of may language. But if I could speak english so well, you could see that I'm very right in a lot of things that I've wrote.
-
@AmericanPatriot17, you do relies one of the first things you have to say as a british monarch is that you promise to upheld and represent all religions and faiths. Anyway the puritans weren't opressed they left because too many people had convereted from puritan to anglican as you could do more things for example puritans were not aloud to engage in dancing
-
@lliktsum, Times like this I wish I could meet some of you in person just so I could explain to you that not all Americans are stupid. I don't believe that America is the only country, I have friends in other countries, and some of my favorite YouTubers come from different countries. Even classmates. And I never said America is the only country, therefore that leads me to believe that you stereotype Americans as idiots who don't understand how the world works.
-
@TittySprinklesUK, and you're proud of your country? Tell me, what are you going to do after you piss off two major world powers (Russia and china) after you attack their ally, Syria? Why not just wait until the rest of the world comes to a decision? I'm sure you guys have your own reasons, but now at least you'll understand why the rest of the world hates it when we get "too involved" with international issues
-
@lliktsum, Why do you keep changing your "facts" around in your answers you post? For example you posted that there are 5 continents without mentioning North America as being one. Now you're recognizing that North America is in fact a continent after someone told you it was...You are obviously not very well educated which where you are from it may not be your fault (I hope) but don't rage at everyone on an app that is right because you can't get past your own ignorant views of the world.
-
@AmericanPatriot17, I don't agree with lliktsums views or the way he is arguing them but Australia isn't a continent it's a country albeit a large one. Australia is in the continent of Oceania. Also if continents are just land masses why is Britain in Europe as it is an island? Otherwise good point.
-
@internetuser17, how stupid are you? Did you parents abandon you? You dont seem to know anything. America is the first nation to be built on true freedom, we never had royalty, we fought for our freedom, always have and always will. We are open and open minded, we are one of the greatest nations in the world because of the American people. You bringing up true freedom sounds Marxist/Socialist/Communist. America provides equal opprotunity with no set social classes, anyone can reach the top if they work hard. America is home to most of the greatest achievements and advancements since the founding of this nation. Boxing is a sport, America is a nation of brains and muscle, we show both off and are proud of both. I am a proud American, a proud American Conservative Republican, and a proud Catholic. A true American, proud to say so, proud to speak up. My country may not be the perfect place on Earth but it is one of, if not the best, place(s) to live on Earth.
-
I always get annoyed when I see comments like the ones that have been posted about America. I mean Americas great and I know americans are pround to be americans but do they really have to get so defensive of their country. Americas done some great things like helping out Britain in WW1 but it joined us when some American passengers on a boat were killed. There are some great thing about America, there are also some bad things about America. For instance America is one of the number one contributors towards global warming. I won't go into detail abouts greatness or not I just think that it's great to be proud of your country, there's just no need to get annoyed if people criticise it. I mean Britain has its fault to, so does every country out there. I don't mind if I'm down voted but I'm using my freedom as a true British citizen to speak my mind. Thank you for reading.
-
Ok. So Internetuser17 is obviously an as*hole. But I have to admit its very annoying to read all of Americanpatriot17's pompous conservative ideals on why America is so great. And being catholic makes you even more American? You're obviously conservative republican, you don't need to say it. I was born, raised, and have lived my whole life in the US and am thankful for that. There's no doubt we're one of the greatest countries in the world with the best living conditions. But we're also the most smug and spoiled acting country in the world. Everyone has to be so damn irrationally proud and patriotic that they make themselves look downright stupid. Can't we be a little more open minded in a sense that this country really isn't as perfect as we tell ourselves, even though it is great. Go to European countries. I went to Sweden and Switzerland last summer and now it's almost embarrassing when people find out you're an American, it's sad, they just laugh at you.
-
It amuses me how America is soooo horrible, yet we are in a major tough time because ppl are DOING ANYTHING THEY CAN, up to and including risking their entire family life to get here and live here, it don't make much sense! If it's so bad here, why are we constantly growing in population from ppl trying to get here every single day, J/S!
-
@Auntie Em, yes mam that's what I was saying, I guess I should've saved the sarcasm for after the first for the ones that just read a couple words and vote, but it's cool, I love my country, and just wanted to point out the fact to that jacka$$ that ppl are risking life and limb of their entire family to get here and we are struggling to keep afloat, but they still say were horrible! But Naw I LOVE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! We are flawed, nowhere near perfect, but we are pretty dammed great if ya ask me ;-)!! Thank you mam!!
-
@Big Fat Wet Cock , I really respect your opinion and I think you should get over it. People love their country despite their flaws. Sure it can get annoying, but again, we have flaws. You may down vote me or whatever. I don't care. People have the right to love or hate their country. There is nothing wrong with that.
-
@ProudCanadianLovesU, that healthcare isnt free, its on the backs of future generations, you dont control your healthcare, the government does because they pay for it. Socialized healthcare also slows down medical procedures and appointments because the government can deny an slow it. Socialized healthcare creates death panels as well. Thats why people come from around the world to the US to get the operations because our government cant control the hospitals or doctors.
-
@AmericanPatriot17, Canada has one of the best healthcare systems in the world. I'm an American, and it always makes me feel really bad when family's have to raise money to pay medical bills just because one of their kids or one of the parents get a really rare disease that has very specialized treatments.
-
@AmericanPatriot17, ok all your other comments have brought up good points but this is bulls*it! The NHS in the uk is one of the best things to ever come out of the government and healthcare is a basic right not something that should only be given to people with the resources to pay for it. Hospitals should be havens not businesses !
-
@internetuser17, I wouldn't say that ... both good and bad has came out of america yes there's a lot of consumerism and obesity but think of all the entertainment and business that has came out america... this app wouldn't be possible without america... I'm british and I say this... and were really arogant haha.
-
@internetuser17, I'm from America, and I can definitely agree with you on some aspects of this, but America can be pretty great. Every morning when I wake up, I put my hand over my heart, am thankful that I live in a country where all are free, and all are treated with equal respect. Sure we have our problems (mostly the deep south and our imperialistic past), but when it comes down to it you can either love your country or get out. To qoute the George W. Bush impersonator from Harold and Kumar, "You don't have to trust your government to be a good American. Hell, I'm in the Government and I don't even trust it. You just have to believe in it."
-
@ThatCoffeeBean, About what? For having pride in my country in spite of my faults? If you're upset about me saying that we have an imperialistic past? We came to this country and then took the land from the Native American and then the Mexicans. At one point we tried to invade Canada, and at another point we were colonizing the Philippines. America has it's faults, but I'm still glad I'm here.
-
@ThatCoffeeBean, America has come along. Yes, we have had a bad history, but we have progressed in treating everyone as equals. Racism is still alive and well in many areas, but I think we are making strides to equality just about every day. Racism is not over, but people are working to end it. I think it's awful that they have removed parts of the bill protecting those of other races to vote, but there,is and always will be corruption. The governments a mess, but there is plenty of good in this country if you can over look its flaws.
-
@ThatCoffeeBean, I'm a democrat much like you (as I can tell by the stance you have taken) and I am pro choice and agree that A) the legislation Texas recently passed regarding abortion clinics is outraging, and B) everyone including transsexuals should be treated equally under the law. Like I said, it's something that we are striving for, and I will never judge someone based on their sexuality, political opinion, or choices that they make regarding their own life. It's something to strive for, and I hope there will come a day where all are truly equal.
-
@TheAlGoreSortOfHipie, I agreed with everything you just said, except for the part about the deep south being a problem. I mean, I live in East Texas. I know my deep south. I don't consider myself a problem and I know a lot of other people in my community who aren't a problem either. I realize it was a joke, but nevertheless; it bothers me when people group the entirety of the south into a heap and label it problematic. That being said, we do have some crazy people down here; as well as all around the country! Anyway, I love the United States and I wouldn't want to be anything other than a proud American!
-
@TheAlGoreSortOfHipie, we do have problems here, but its not our past, we use the past's mistakes to improve. The problem is the large government and dependency. The government is not supposed to be trusted fully, it needs to be held responsible. But loving your home, our home, the USA is never wrong! :D
-
@ThatCoffeeBean, everyone is treated equally in that they have equal opprotunity to improve themselves if they work hard. Everyone has an equal say as well. Do not forget this nation was founded on Christian principles. Abortion, in my opinion is wrong. I dont support gays/bisexuals, an i dont support transsexuals. Because i dont support tem doesnt mean i will harm them, but i wont go out of y way to help them, it goes against my views.
-
@ThatCoffeeBean, i dont care about gays getting married, like i said it goes against my views. The people in the ghettos, they can work hard at a job for minimum wage, make a living, work harder and earn raises and bonuses, then they provide better for their family so their kids and grandkids will be better off. Instead, most join gangs, do drugs, commit crimes, believe they are entitled, play the race card. Not all companies pay women less, Panera and other right leaning companies pay people equally and give raises based on commitment and hard work. I know because i work at Panera. Many companies also hire disabled people. Disable people also have been helped by the government. And this nation was founded on Christian principles, the founding fathers were Christians who believed in God. God is in the Pledge, the founders were quoted saying that this country will need God. You can be athiest, it does not bother me, im just stating a historical fact.
-
@AmericanPatriot17, A lot of what you're saying is true, but that's the minority of the situation in the US. And about Christianity, many of the Founding Fathers were not Christian, some even atheist, including Thomas Jefferson who WROTE the Declaration of Independence. Also, the Pledge not only originally did not mention God, but you don't even have to say that in it, nor are you required to even recite the Pledge.
-
@ThatCoffeeBean, This guy, as you said, is right in a good number if aspects, but he is misinformed on the stance that many of the founding fathers took. Sure, many of them were in fact Christian, but just about all of them regardless of their religion have stated upon many occasions that America is not a Christian nation.
-
@ThatCoffeeBean @AmericanPatriot17 I agree with most everything you guys said. I'm a Christian, but I believe that Gays/Lesbians/transsexuals should have the same rights as those who are heterosexual. I do not PERSONALLY agree with abortion, on most levels. Rape, I understand. Having sex ecause you want to, or because you 'feel like it', resulting in a pregnancy that ends up getting aborted I feel, is horribly irresponsible. I was raised in a republican home, but many of my personal views are seen as democratic. I live in a country where everyone is equal to an extent. Many students in my high school have much lower grades that I have and received scholarships to certain schools because of their color. Yes, I realize that it is to have more "minority groups" in a collage, but. If I work harder than a Mexican or a black person and do not get a scholarship to a school that I am much more cut out for, is that equality for me? No. Race should not determine educational rights.
-
@internetuser17, Listen, dude, I'm all for peace, I'm a damn hippie for crying out.loud. And America can be stupid, but America is great. Just the fact that we live in a country where you can say that you hate it is proof. I disagree with many of the things our country has done, but it's ideals are what makes this country great, and you're right to say that you hate the country is protected under these ideals.
-
@TheAlGoreSortOfHipie, everything positive you said about America, applies to every country in the west. It's no greater than any western country in terms of ideals. In fact it's worse nowadays, there's no petty point scoring battle between ends of the political spectrum in other countries, you won't get convicted for a crude online post anywhere in Europe, there's no poverty or police brutality in places like Luxembourg. It was the founding fathers who established the ideals you're talking about, and set the example for the world. That made America great back then, but it's not anymore. Secondly, everything bad you hinted at, things that you "disagree with", do not apply to pretty much any other countries.
-
@inmyass, I am in agreement with you. The western countries are great, some of them greater in some aspects than America, and I think that America has made some very questionable decisions over the years that the other countries have never even made anything close to. I am saying that it is great in comparison to places in the world where the people are either oppressed, impoverished, or both.
-
@TheAlGoreSortOfHipie, I mean dudes rapping and going on and on, AND ON AND ON AND ON ON ON ON ON about peace, but if you read back, he's the jackass that started the whole thing, then got but hurt when that other gentleman politely slapped him with an I'm alot damn smarter stick! Now he just trying to flap his gums while he yells peace!! We have ppl in AMERICA that does that to, we call em A$$HOLES! ;-)
-
@inmyass, I agree on this as well. I don't fully trust the government to any extent, and I condemn anyone that does. There is a lot of bad things happening here as well as just about everywhere else in the world, but here I believe that the bad outweighs the good. Hell, if I was ever drafted I'd probably sneak in to Canada, I would never participate in another one of our pointless wars.
Its in color though
