That probably killed some fishs. Also if anyone was near the explosion in the water that can really mess you up actually. I forget the exact details, but an explosive in the water has crazy impact waves that can injure you and travel much further than a explosion in the air.
@Mr I Am Pooping, water doesn't compress but air does. Like the air in our lungs, or gas in our intestines. Shockwave goes through the water and enters our bodies and compresses the gasses inside us, along with a lot of our organs, causing MASSIVE internal bleeding.
@dichbute, thanks for the specific details. That sounds like a terrible way to die. I use to scuba and I was always scared there would be an explosion near by since I heard that type of shockwave could travel pretty dang far.
@Mr I Am Pooping, navy teaches their troops to float on their backs to minimize damage of a shock wave in the water. Mythbusters did an episode on it back in the day, and I believe it they confirmed that to be true. Useful tips if you swim in a body of water with explosives in it/live in Florida.
@Mr I Am Pooping, they failed to defuse it so instead did a controlled detonation with a drone. Would be strange for there to he so many high resolution, perfectly pictured videos if it was a random explosion, or during mid defuse.
@dichbute, the navy uses water slow down the steam carbine used to launch planes at 180 mph. All it takes is 6 feet of water, with a little engineering.
