I'm a Christian but I don't go around telling people if they're not the same religion as me, they're wrong, or if they're gay, they're going to hell. I really couldn't care less if someone was gay or of a different religion.
@Magickarp, I'm the same. Although on Reddit I have seen atheists on a group about Christianity and vice versa spouting non sense. It's annoying.
@Magickarp, THANK YOU!!
@Magickarp, it pains me to see how many Christians misunderstand their faith and make the religion as a whole look judgmental and evil
@Uncle Nipple, exactly!
@Magickarp, we need more Christians like this, I mean the more gay people, the less competition right?
@Uncle Nipple, Yeah, it's mostly the older Christians that make us as a while look bigoted and hateful.
@Uncle Nipple, Whoops, meant "as a whole"
@Magickarp, As a Christian, we aren't supposed to anyway. Several Bible verses tell us not to shove Christianity down the world's throat or use the Bible as a tool for hate.
@SimonPetrikov, not sure what verses you're talking about. There are many, however, that direct the believer to preach and spread the word to all nations.
@Eat me, Preach, yes, and spread the word. NOT superimpose our religion onto others. There's a difference.
@Fluttershy, Matthew 28:19
@Magickarp, That is exactly how I see this debate. I don't care what like, say, believe, or look like. I don't see why religion is such as issue. Personally, I am atheist, but I don't go around saying that anyone is wrong. Just accept our differences and move on!
@Eat me, Yes, but not forcefully. Part of our Church's memory verse this year is to preach "gently and with patience."
@Magickarp, deep thoughts from a magickarp
@Magickarp, I'm like that, too!
@The Destructonator, it's just that, if you thought you're friend was say, going to go to jail for doing something wrong, wouldn't you want a chance to tell them to do otherwise? That's how Christians feel, an most other religions for that matter,
@Magickarp, you deserve all the medals for doing Christianity right.
@Magickarp, I'm an atheist and I don't force religious into being a atheist. I tell them why they're wrong.
@Macbeth, considering this is modern times, I'm not even going to talk about the various religious wars there have been to determine who the "true" god is, and spread his/her/their religion through killing as many people as possible. My policy, however, is just this: unless their religion involves ritual sacrifice of you, or just leads them to justify being total dicks (like the people who told the family of a dead soldier that he deserved it), don't interfere, and don't bother them about it.
@spiderrrman, you tell them reasons you think they're wrong* - and while many atheists THINK they're Doing so, there are many atheists that are exactly like Christians that try and force their beliefs when it's not needed
@FlyingGOPHER, I get that man, it's just like, not all of the religions are right, right? It's either one, or maybe none, but they can't all be right because of conflicting major points, knowing this, each religion who thinks they're right, thinks the other religions are going to hell. That's why they feel like they should spread the word, I do not believe the "holy" wars were justified, by god or by anyone, long term in Christianity there are two commandments, believe in Jesus and love your neighbor, if you do that, people come to you about why you're so happy, and they want it too, and there is no killing involved
@Magickarp, the Bible is openly homophobic, you're a christian. You can't simply
@Magickarp, it's good to let others be but if you're a Christian who legitimately believes that all those who don't believe in Jesus are going to hell you should feel a little more obligated to help others. Just saying
I smell a flame war arriving. Well, I'm off into my underground vault. See you guys and gals later!
@Unofficial Badass, vault 101? The last person i met from there murdered my republic
@Unofficial Badass, wait take me with you.
@Unofficial Badass, I will be doing something similar...
@Unofficial Badass, Up here there's plenty of insulation to just tune it out! And I have snacks!... that may have at one point been possibly maybe yours...
@Unofficial Badass, Am I the only one who notices there is never actual flame waring here in funny pic? I see way more people warning about religion/flame wars than I ever actually see the wars themselves... It's something I really like about the community.
I had a conversation with someone from the Middle East who is Islam and we had a long conversation of what our beliefs were kind of comparing and contrasting christianity and islam. It opens your eyes to see a new perspective of what others believe. We can respect and share our opinions without hate in this world, so the next time you see someone who believes something different, take the time to see the way they do, and you can grow as a human.
@Werewolfman, that is the most amazing thing I've ever read
@Werewolfman, you don't call someone from the Middle East Islam they're Muslim
Just curious, who here isn't religious?
@gRAPE juices, I don't think it's a wise idea to answer that question. But I'm not religious. *runs to bomb shelter*
@LeedleLee, You shouldn't be downvoted.. as long as you aren't iconoclastic about your lack of religion then there's no reason to be shameful of it. I'm an atheist, and I really don't care if you're Christian, Islamic, or Jewish. As long as you are a good person in what you do, believe what you want.
@anxiousPorcupine exactly. Like I try not to call myself an atheist (even though I am) just because of the negative connotation it has to the judgmental religious. I don't care if you believe in god our not I'm just saying I don't. Either one of us could be right in the end but I'm gonna stick to what I think is the correct answer and we'll see in the end.
@gRAPE juices, does it count if you follow a religion that worships you? Because I'm a Daedra worshipper, specifically I worship me.
@gRAPE juices, Agreed. Here's the thing as well. And I may be going a complete 180° here, but I think if there were a God he wouldn't be so judgemental and crude to send someone who had done many good deeds in their life to hell just because they didn't believe in him. But hey. That's just me.
@anxiousPorcupine , look at the rating of this picture, 46%, and I doubt that will change no matter when you read this comment, because anything anti religious on here gets hate, just saying
@anxiousPorcupine , I agree completely, like in the end it shouldn't matter what you believe if you're a good person. Especially since there's so many religions, it doesn't seem fair to only have one be right.
@The Antagonist, I just changed it to 50% whattup
@gRAPE juices, my whole family is hardcore judgmental Christians, and I'm 17 with piercings and a tattoo, so you can imagine how well I get along with my family.
@SecretlyFangirling, when it comes down to it isn't Christianity supposed to be an accepting religion following in the footsteps of Jesus though? Like I honestly don't think religion in itself isn't bad, just how is commonly practiced. Like I know people who are both extremely religious and accepting because they take religion to heart and the fact that people use religion as a basis to judge infuriates me.
@gRAPE juices, like they justify their judgmental views by saying they have them because of their religion but if they were truly religious they wouldn't be judgemental.
@gRAPE juices, No I totally agree with you, religion isn't bad, but unfortunately people think less of you if you don't have the same beliefs as them. I'm not Christian, but I have similar morals like not drinking or doing drugs or having sex, but my grandparents berated me because I got a tattoo and apparently 'damaged the skin God gave me' so now I'm a bad person.
@SecretlyFangirling, yeah that's not right. You should never do that to family for something that will be trivial in a few years.
@gRAPE juices, I'm not Christian so my mother calls me unreligious. She chastised me because she thinks I don't pray. Just because I don't pray to a Christian god doesn't mean I don't pray or that I'm not religious. I happen to be pagan, and apparently for my 'non judge mental' mother, I'm wrong. I don't tell her or anyone else their wrong about what they believe. Personally. I hope were all right and that we all get to go to the places we believe in.
@meowarina, yeah there's a difference of being unreligious and not following the religion someone who calls you unreligious believes in. I myself am irreligious but that is because no religion seems to be the correct one to me.
@gRAPE juices, non-religious too, I love how many times a simple cute joke about religion instantly gets told to shut up and go home, irregardless of how funny it is. Take it as a joke, not a dick, it won't be so hard.
@Tmanny, that reminds m me if my favorite phrase, "Religion is like a penis. It's fine to have one and it's fine to be proud of it, but please don't whip it out in public and start waving it around... and PLEASE don't try to shove it down my child's throat"
I'm a Christian and I can confirm that SOME Christians are guilty of choosing parts that they like, but I don't. NOT LOOKING FOR ANY DEBATES. Just sayin'. Who agrees?
@Paul The Llama, The LORD then gave these further instructions to Moses: 'Tell the people of Israel to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you forever. It helps you to remember that I am the LORD, who makes you holy. Yes, keep the Sabbath day, for it is holy. Anyone who desecrates it must die; anyone who works on that day will be cut off from the community. Work six days only, but the seventh day must be a day of total rest. I repeat: Because the LORD considers it a holy day, anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death.' (Exodus 31:12-15 NLT)
@Random Quotes, "Put to death"
Or, just speculating, its mistranslated and misinterpreted, and is irrelevent because religion wars suck
@Genesis Rhapsodos , or taken out of context, so on.
@kmaheynoway, but just the parts that aren't liked, right? :P
@Generic White Guy, ............... I don't know it I should like your name because it's almost like mine, or dislike it because you stole my name.......
I am of the firm belief that everyone should be entitled to their own beliefs so long as they SHUT THEIR MOUTHS ABOUT IT. Nothing makes me upset like an overly vocal zealot, be it religious or atheist.
@RetardedGyarados, Agreed, uncle.
Religion needs to stop.
@Jcmwarrior, I really agree with you, my friend.
Liberal: Everyone MUST be accepted along with their beliefs.... unless you're christan.
I'm catholic and my church believes that nothing in the bible is to be taken as direct fact. Some stories are metaphorical and some are interpretations of what happened. Are we to believe that the earth was created in 7 literal days? No it's a story. The reason why part of he bible is reliable and other parts aren't is because it was written by many different authors
Stuckpixel please keep religion out of the app. There's a mixed community here.
The Minecraft community server is up!!! First person on is going to be the tester! IP: solarpvp.thesmelter.com
How is a pidgeon relative to this?
@JasonGodDamnGrace, how is it not relative? Did ya ever think about that?
@JasonGodDamnGrace, it's a meme called "Religion Pigeon."
Okay guys I have a question for the atheists or nonreligious on Funnypics. Do you guys specifically hate Christianity or are you more vocal about it than you are with other religions?
@Chuck Bartowski, I think it's just that there are way more Christians than anybody else, so that's where the focus is
@Bim115, Okay I was kind of thinking that. Thanks for your input.
@Chuck Bartowski, For one, you have obviously met some pretty crappy Atheists if your mindset is that all of us hate Christians. Secondly, it isn't a one sided thing. I live in the South, and to be honest, I am quite terrified of voicing my beliefs to my family and community. I am scared of the militant Christians who will rant and rave at me, just because I'm not religious. That being said my best friend is Catholic and we frequently tease one another about our beliefs, and having him to talk to really makes me feel like I shouldn't judge a group by the actions of a few.
@anxiousPorcupine , See we are a lot a like. One of my best friends is an atheist and we tease each other. I'm not the type of Christian who will randomly rant at someone but if you ask me what I believe I will tell you. Look up CultOfDusty or something like that on YouTube. I know you aren't like him but what causes his profound hatred for Christianity? That is who question was kind of aimed at.
@Chuck Bartowski, I don't hate followers of any religion, you're allowed to believe what you want to. I simply don't believe in any myself.
@Chuck Bartowski, I want you to think about it like this.... you are comfortable with your beliefs. I am comfortable with mine. Some people just aren't. For example Chuck Norris is a hardcore Christian who has for many years attempted to get science textbooks to stop teaching the theory evolution and teach it in a biblical approach. This personally makes me mad, because Norris is blatantly saying "You're wrong, i'm right, you need to change" That to me shows that he is not assured about his beliefs. I have a kid on my swim team who claims to be a Satanist. Constantly says "Hail Satan" for no reason. Why? Because he likes the attention and he is uncomfortable with what he believes. He attacks any other religion viciously, and again, that makes me mad. So anyway, i'm done ranting. Go drink some grape juice for me. Peace.
Every hardcore Christian ever.
@Average Canadian, and every Tea Partier.
@Average Canadian, this is no hardcore Christian. This is the exact opposite
@The Sandlot, how so? It's saying that they only believe the metaphors that they want to, and all the rest are just "metaphors" so they don't matter.
@The Sandlot, most of the west borough baptist people, and anyone like that
@Average Canadian, a real Christian takes in all aspects of the Bible. Hypocrites take in what they want
@Average Canadian, if any Christian you know is like that, they need to reevaluate what exactly they believe and accept everything the Bible says
@The Sandlot, I'm an atheist man, but u respect beliefs unless you pick and choose from a religion
@Average Canadian, I'm saying a true Christian doesn't pick and choose, he stands for everything. Just try to not get a false representation of Christians
@The Sandlot, I'm not saying that about all Christians, I'm saying there are some that are like how I described
NO, NO, NO. THESE KIND OF PICTURES DO NOT BELONG HERE. Dont let this turn into 9gag... (Atheists rule everyone with religion is stupid lol MEMES!!)
I want to create my own religion. It's going to be "don't be a dick" Only two commandments: 1. enjoy your life 2. Don't be a dick. Seems like when it comes down to it a lot of problems could be resolved with the philosophy.
Why a pigeon? That's what bothers me about this pic - not the controversial religous jab, but the fact that they used pigeon. What logic led to that?
@FalconHalo, it's a meme called "Religion Pigeon."
@FalconHalo, it's cause pigeons have a small brain so they don't comprehend everything, just like what people do to the bible. The more you know
Is this the wrong template for' dis?
There are a lot if people who take it seriously. One an never make such generalizations.
@AIFOS, **of Not if
