Long post alert. One of the main reasons why schools in the south get canceled because of such little snow is because we do not have the equipment to move it. In the north y'all have plows and salt trucks galore I'm sure. Where I live (northern Georgia area) we have like 5 salt trucks for three counties and that's it. And since we only have a few trucks they don't get any of the smaller roads where people live. So if people want to get to school they either walk or salt the roads themselves.

My friends dad works on Peach Tree Street (dead center Atlanta) and when the snow started he left work at 12:30 pm to drive 45 miles north home and it took him 13 hours to get there because of all the wrecks.
